AMD-BKK
Hi friends, I am travelling from the US to India and want to take a flight from AMD (Ahmedabad) to Bangkok (Thailand). I really want to avoid having to go from Domestic to Intl Terminal in Bombay.
I have found an AirIndia flight on a travel web-site but want to confirm if in fact this flight would get me from AMD to BOM (INTL) and on the way back from BOM-AMD (INTL) so that I don't have to transfer to the domestic terminal. The flight from AMD-BOM is Air India 985 and on the internet it says it arrives at Terminal 2 which I presume is the International terminal. On the way back Air India 12 goes from BOM-AMD again out of Terminal2. I have 2 hours 25 min between when my flight from BKK lands and when I get my connection to AMD. 1) Can someone confirm that in fact the 2 AI flights operating between AMD-BOM operate from International Terminal? 2) Upon returning from BKK would 2 hours 25 min be enough to catch the connection? 3) Would my bags be checked all the way from AMD-BKK and from BKK-AMD? Thanks in advance for your help. -SK |
I think 9xx series of AI flkights are all international flights heading to the Gulf.
So this one should arrive and depart from the international side. So you wont have to switch terminals. |
One obvious suggestion would be to connect though DEL. Prices, flying times etc appear comparable.

Half the Bangkok flight from Bombay is full of people from Ahmedabad doing the exact same thing what you are suggesting. 985 is amd Bom mct flight and lands at international terminal. Your bags will be checked in all the way to Bangkok. You could also take the later flight 191 and reduce your ground halt in Bombay airport which also lands at the international terminal.
On the way back the cabin crew is the same on the Bangkok Ahmedabad flight and it is the same aircraft also. Though they will make you get down and board again however you should not be concerned about missing it at all. Again your bags will be checked in all the way to Ahmedabad and the fligh will be landing at international terminal in Bombay only. Your only alternate option could be a spice jet flight which I heard were launching a direct Bangkok Ahmedabad flight. However this was a very bad rumour I heard so don't count on it. |

You might want to consider the direct Thai Airways flight beginning Apr 1. To prove that this is not an April fools joke, here's a link from January:
