Indigo closes Bom - BKK from 28th Feb ?

Seems Indigo is shutting the BOM - BKK daily flight from 28th Feb !

This flight seemed to have very decent loads as this was the only LCC in this sector and some colleagues of mine who hv flown this route say its quite full always..

Any idea why they closing such a lucrative route

Btw.. they started CCU - BKK in Dec end and this route already had 4 daily flights ( incl Air Asia ).. ok.. 3 of these flights (2 *9W and TG) catered only to traders / couriers but still..

They're killing BOM-SIN and DEL-SIN too. But adding a MAA-SIN.

hmmm..
would be interesting to see the loads on the ex-BOM sectors to SIN/BKK.. compared to that to CCU..

Who know what their reasoning was. SIN not working out I can still get, but BKK is a mystery. It might be a combination of of untapped demand (already plenty of supply to BOM & DEL) and, for SIN, range/payload issues for the 320.

By the way Calcutta is closer to Bangkok than to Bombay.

this was announced about 4 weeks+ back yes, but full loads were perhaps because they are not dictating price on this route and undercutting to get loads. so maybe it was not lucrative enough. also, do remember that from BOM and DEL, you pay some of the highest airport charges, each of which are payable per flight, so they'd rather use their slots for something else, I guess. Customers don't see this esp. when they want to fly to BKK, they want ultra low fares.

From what I know, they were charging about INR 12-13k for BKK - BOM returns booked about 45 days in advance..next lowest was between INR 20k ( AI/ 9W) - 30K.. If it was not lucrative, they could easily have increased the prices to about INR 15k - 16k and would still be >20% cheaper than others and which is enough for many pax in this region..

I am sure the airline thought otherwise ;) I have travelled in 12.5k tickets to bkk on a wide body a333,then why would I pay similarly for a a330 with no frills ? On BOM-bkk and DEL--bkk there are others such as Thai and Cathay who compete as well, and they have a focus on profitability or so I would like to believe

One or two anecdotal instances don't mean a pattern, but the 2-3 times I checked BOM-BKK fares over the past year, Indigo were more expensive than Jet. Only Cathay were cheaper.
