Jetair ways no flight policy
Hi Friends,
I need suggestion here. I am kind of trapped into problems. I am regular flyer of Jet airways from Belgium to India. Next month, I have flight booked from Brussels to Bangalore via Mumbai(through) and in same ticket I have my return journey booked from bangalore to Brussels via Mumbai. Now because of emergency I will only be able to use ticket forward journey flight from brussels until Mumbai. I have to stay in Mumbai for couple of days before start travelling to bangalore. I dont want to use flight from Mumbai to bangalore, I will plan my travel on my cost for travelling to bangalore from there. Rest of the journey plan will be same as planned. If I explained this to Jetairways call center representative, she says I am not allowed to just travel until Mumbai as mumbai is not my final destination. If I dont use flight from mumbai to bangalore, they will automatically cancel my return tickets. Had it been same situation for return journey, she agrees I shall do as airline cannot catch me afterwords, but because my return journey is planned in same ticket she thinks I will get catch while returning. To me this doesnot make sense at all, I am searching many sites I am not finding right response. Please help me what shall I do, I really need to drop in mumbai and doesnot expect any refund/cancellation charges from airline. Thanks in advance. Arun |
Welcome to Flyertalk arunbijapur.
Unfortunately, this is a policy that airlines across the industry have adopted. You must fly your trip as you've booked it - skipping any part of it may cause the remainder of your trip to be cancelled. Your best option would be to contact your travel agent and see if they can change your ticket to the dates you want. Otherwise, cancel your ticket and see if you can use that credit to book a new trip. Finally, another idea may be for you to keep your trip as it is now and book a separate journey BLR-BOM-BLR for the dates you need to be in Bombay. |
The call center rep was correct.
Your cheapest option will likely be buying a Bangalore-Mumbai-Bangalore return ticket. If you can provide documentation of your emergency (for example, death certificate), 9W might possibly be willing to waive the fee. |
You can change just the BOM-BLR segment to a later date. Should not be an issue, I've done this a few times.

What is the change fee for BOM-BLR segment?
For under $200 (maybe as low as $100) you can buy a BLR-BOM round trip. Fly to BLR on your original ticket as planned and buy a separate BLR-BOM round trip. Simply skipping your BOM-BLR segment will not only cause your reservation to be cancelled, you will still need to buy one way BOM-BLR. Travelling to BLR as originally ticketeed and buying a separate BLR-OM round trip is the best solution. If under the fare rules, your emergency, is a qualifying emergency that allows you to change your outbound ticket, it might require you to pay "new" fare available at the time you make the change even if there were no change fee. You have already talked to a Jet representative once. Calling again can't hurt. Depending on your status with the airline and the mood of a supervisor, you might be able to make free change without paying a higher fare. A supervisor could override any fees. I had some emergency come up after I had bought my ticket (via Boston), that required me to stay in Boston for an unspecified time. The airline allowed me to not only stop in Boston for as long as I needed to, but also left the onward segments open. You have to e very lucky to get that. I have also been able to change my outbound due to post surgical care. The surgery itself took place more than a month after the ticket was booked but three weeks before the outbound. The first thing you should do is read your fare rules carefully to determine what you are or aren't allowed. |
