i would be surprised if this was due to a senior citizen discount since this was a redemption booking....aren't they supposed to be the same for everyone (except infants)????

I don't know. I was looling for reasons for separate PNRs. Since he menioned "senior citizens" I thoughtthere might be some relevance of thar status, perhaps a discount.

Not sure if the tax calculation would change? The senior citizen discount might apply to the base fare they use for calculation.

Dealing with AI miles redemptions

Trying to get DEL-AMD using FLying return miles. They booked the ticket over the phone but I still have to
Send check to local office to confirm the ticket.

I have some miles in my parents account due to expire in Dec and since we are going to India in Jan i was hoping to use it for our travel. But after reading this thread i think we have not shot on using it. I have a question and will appreciate if anybody can answer based on their experience. If online system works will it allow me to book ticket for us using my credit card? My parents don't have credit card and their is no Air India office in their city so if online systems doesn't allow my to book ticket using my credit card then i will just pass. If it does allow then do we need to travel with any kind of proof other than credit card?

Using a credit card is just fine.

AI may ask for the card at check-in (of any segment).

You will need a valid photo ID card, print out of the ticket, and a photo copy of the credit card front and back with your signature on the photo copy when travelling. Online system works now, however I find availability has been reduced so I would book sooner rather than later.

If you are in US you can make

reservation by calling AirIndia and then call
Local office to figure out the tax amount. Once you have tax amount you can send a cashiers check and PNR to any US office to make Payment.

I was more wondering if they see any id of the owner of FF account? I don't even know if my parent ever received the FF cards.
