It's not juist Indians travelling between India and the U.S., it's also Indians travelling from BKK, SIN etc, and Chinese Philippinos, etc between the U.S. and their homeland.

I usually travel light. Sometimes the four of us we have travelled with just four carry ons, no checked baggage. We have taken several trips to India witrh three suitcases when we were allowed 12.
I am OK with baggage fees. I rarely use my allowance. On my last trio, my checked baggage weighted 6-7 Kg and cabin baggage was a quarter of most people carried.
If people get to check 2/3 bags for free, I should get a discount. :D

Well said. I am not only ok with luggage fees, but also with fees for checking in early, choosing seats, etc. I would like airlines to price discriminate so people like me who don't value those services don't have to pay for them.

In fact, this might sound weird on FlyerTalk, but if I could pay a lower price at the expense of not getting frequent flyer miles, I'd seriously consider taking it. (I realize that this kind of exists in the form of different fare classes, but it is not always possible to book in the class you want).

Well, we are on Flyertalk. I wouldn't go as far as not getting miles. It's sacrilegious to even suggest a trip without miles. I also like the ability to select seats in advance, but do hate it when everyone else does it too. :D Seriously, I can't complain about people with status grabbing seats though. Airlines already discriminate those willing to pay, from those NOT, by not offering food, charging for bags, premier seat selection and YES, allowing you to accumulate miles. Many airlines give you less than 100% miles for certain fares. DL tried that, but had to retract.
