I just came back after a quick trip to the US. My normal carrier is EK but due to the very short notice travel and with no seats available elsewhere, flew on AI MAA-DEL-JFK and back. Based on my experience of just this one trip, I wouldn't mind flying AI again. Apart from minor delays, everything worked with pretty good in flight service in Y. Now, if I could choose my fellow passengers, that would be perfect :)
How was the IFE?

Screen worked fine, the plug-socket fitment of the headsets is a bit dodgy. Fortunately, my own headset plugged in without any problems.

I am hoping that AI does get into Star Alliance. It does bring extensive route network to the alliance, that no other Indian airline does. It's the only Indian airline that offers nonstop service to all its North American destinations. With its nonstop service to EWR, ORD and YYZ, hubs of Continental, United and Air Canada respectively, it provides onward connections to anywhere in NA.
