I thought this was around for quite a while...why are they "introduce"-ing it now???

Maybe for the same reaction that I had - never realized this was possible...

Btw, how much does one pay in cash then - at what rate per mile?

I logged in to see how this works ..
I see there is a new option under redeem miles ''Cash and miles'' which was not there earlier IIRC..
I tried doing a dummy booking ..
its worked like this :-
CCU - DEL -- the web special fare being shown when trying to book a normal e-ticket is RS 4629..
When I try the same from the redeem cash and miles option then the fare comes to rs 4509 and it deducts 1200 miles..
I have much more than 1200 miles in my account, but less than the total miles required for this ticket..
I expected it to deduct the total miles available from my account and then take the balance from me in cash, but for some reason it has just deducted 1200 miles @ Rs 1 for 10 miles..
I also tried with another JP account which had more than sufficient miles balance for this award ticket and the same thing happens. It deducts only 1200 miles and reduces the price by Rs 120... I did it for the return ticket and it only debited 2400miles whereas had enuf miles for the whole trip.. interesting...
Maybe others can share their experience with this..

Few additional points that Jet failed to mention in its' e-mail:

1. Only JP members registered in India eligible.

2. No biz fares can be booked. (As far as I can see)

3. Revenue vs. Miles example:

Revenue (a JetKonnect flight! :p):

Fare
1 Adult @ INR 2751 : INR 2751
[Fare(s) include Base Fare + Airline Fuel Charge (YQ)
+ Airline Congestion Charge (YR) as applicable]
Tax : INR 0
Fees
Passenger Service Fee (WO) : INR 229
User Development Fee (IN) : INR 100

Total Trip Cost : INR 3080
(including Fare, Tax & Fees)
Booking Class : B
JPMiles per member = 71

Cash + Miles:

Fare
1 Adult @ INR 2650 : INR 2650
[Fare(s) include Base Fare + Airline Fuel Charge (YQ)
+ Airline Congestion Charge (YR) as applicable]
JPMiles to be redeemed
1 Adult @ 1100 JPMiles : 1100 JPMiles
Tax : INR 0
Fees
Passenger Service Fee (WO) : INR 229
User Development Fee (IN) : INR 100

Total Trip Cost : INR 2979
(including Fare, Tax & Fees)
Total JPMiles to be redeemed : 1100 JPMiles
Booking Class : B

You be the judge as to whether you are saving anything... ;)

PS: This is far, far away from BD's program...so is Wolfgang far away from India right now - at BD!

Are they kidding us? 1100 miles to save Rs101

101 bucks saved wouldn''t get even get one a beer at an India airport today...!!!! they really need to get something better going...

why book on jetairways.com, all one has to do is book on a multi brand site such as travelocity.co.in and your bound to get a couple of hundred bucks off your ticket and you don't loose any miles as well...

Keyser Jun 2, 2010 11:12 pm

this is extremely disappointing....no real saving & no première class....
