Should i go for Package or ??

Hi,

I am in a Dilemma. I was Planning to Go to Bangkok in the Month of Sept, 2010.I received an Email from Kingfisher that, they are offering Complete Package starting 12k p.p ( Per Passenger ).

Now, We are a Family of 4. If i go with Package, including the Hotel Stay and Airport Transfer, the Total Amount would be around 60 - 65K. I have around 50k miles in my Jet Account. I could Transfer Few More. Even if i purchase 2 tickets using Miles, i need to Purchase 2 more which Cost me at least 30K.

But, i wanted to Use my Miles. I cannot use it for Hotel Reservations. I have Miles on Emirates as well. But, again, that would not help as i need to Book Hotel Reservations.

Which Option is the best? Is there any Hidden Charges for Booking Package with Kingfisher?

I am Planning to take their AX Card. Would that Help me? It stated i would get Gold Status. But, i do not think,i would have Premier Check In for all my Family members?

Uhmm......Confused!!

gold status would get you & another family member to the lounge....you will be able to check-in all family members at the gold/plat counter....

i don't believe there are any hidden costs with the package deals....

also note that for 2 return redemption tickets with jet you will end up paying about inr 12k in taxes....add the inr 30k for the 2 other tickets....then you will have to pay for your hotel room seperately....if you have a 5 day stay at a low-mid range hotel then you pay about 20k....

with this is mind the kingfisher deal sounds like it will end up costing you a little less....

Is the 12K rate including all air-taxes and hotel taxes?

Thanks!!

I Spoke to Kingfisher. They Said, it would be around 14k P.P for 2 days and 3 nights including Airport Transfer and Hotel Arrangement.

Even if i wish to stay longer, i don't think that this is a Bad Deal. what Do you People suggest?

Thanks again !!

With this kind of package deal they'll likely put you up in a crappy hotel and take you on one of those guided package tours in a bus full of people, rush you around.

Also the political situation in BKK is a bit troublesome - red shirts, yellow shirts etc, and malls etc in downtown BKK seem to be shut down by agitators. Try somewhere else in the region - SIN / KUL say, or maybe CMB, a lot more peaceful these days.

Although 12k seems ridiculously cheap for airfare+acco+tours I think I'll go with hresus - its not likely to be a great experience. Having said that, BKK isn't particularly popular given the current situation, so if you DO end up going, I think you'll find the guided tour part of it pretty nice, because there won't be many tourists in the first place. Just trying my best to give a positive spin where there isn't much hope ;-) Bottomline, avoid BKK for now.

the op would be going in september....hopefully things would be a lot better in bangkok by then....

i think kingfisher gives you an option of paying a little bit more to get a better hotel....i would go for a 4 or 5 star hotel....they are pretty cheap in bangkok in any case....

The cheaper hotels tend to be interesting .. the ambassador in Sukhumvit for example had a list of rules at the checkin desk (when I checked in once a couple of years back) that was like "female visitors must leave a copy of their ID at reception". [and yes, I know there's enough sleazy nightclubs round the corner to justify that - but its still a great hotel if you get put into the new wing]
