that's very strange....i have never been told this....but i do always ask to speak with a manager when i call jp about any special request....i put the request in & wait for them to get back to me....it has worked both times for me....the last time i had to wait about 10 days & this time i waited less than a week....

Weird! I will have a try again. Say I need to book for June, will they confirm me in around 10-15 days from now or around 10 days before the flight?

my guess is 10 days before the flight....they need to see first if they call sell the tickets but when it becomes apparant that they can't, then they will confirm your ticket....

Well that could be why I am not able to secure two F seats. I always need to confirm my travels a month before at least.
i also asked my travel agent to check how many seats were sold in first....they told me there were 6 seats left after my redemption, & there are a total of 8....so it turns out that as of now, my wife & i are the only ones travelling in first....in situations like this jet would normally allow for the second redemption in first since its extremely unlikely they will be able to fill up the entire class.... |

Not openly on the website - they would require you to WL first, and then only confirm the second, unlike SQ (who openly releases it to *A inventory), as d3vski pointed out earlier.

that's what i meant....online they only let you book 1 first seat....doesn't matter if its the day before departure & their entire class is empty....

Going to book up a flight for June next week. Will let you know how I get along on the wait list regards.
So just to confirm what you guys have saidI should book entirely with miles, confirm one F seat and ask them to waitlist the second F seat. They should charge me for the one ticket now and the other will be charged when its confirmed? If the waitlist doesn't clear then I will just have to make the other half sit in the back :p |

I seriously doubt that they will let me waitlist through miles though. Lets see, will keep you posted.
You will have to fill out the (Jet) award request form (either manually or online) and WL the second seat! |
another thing you can do is to find out how heavy their load in first is....if its empty then you have a good chance of getting the ticket....if you have a travel agent then they can find out for you....if by some chance you can't find out then send me a pm with your flight date/route & i'll find out for you....

Lets see. I will keep you posted.

I am trying to book a 1 way in F BOM-LHR in September (using AA miles). I can see that no seats have been sold, but still there is no award availability? Any clues on this? I thought they allowed 1 seat per flight in F?

how can you tell if no seat has been sold????
For the whole week I want to travel, only 1 day is available & that does not really suit. |

Well thinking about it, may not be 100% accurate, but I look on expedia.com to see what seats are assigned. Most flights in Sept in F are all free (according to my method) & would be suprised if no seats were assigned when booked.......so my conclusion is that they have yet to sell any seats!

Somewhat surprisingly, not everyone chooses seats at booking, or even before check-in. Even in F and J.

with jet, i have never had a problem redeeming 2 business tickets....have never been on waitlist....but its great that there were able to get me the 2 first tickets in both instances, specially when they are going above their usual policy to do so.... |

I am finding the 9W FFP more and more valuable with each passing day. Today I needed to organise an urgent trip to India over the next few days due to a family emergency. 9W bent over backwards to accommodate me. They managed to release an I class seat in a very busy flight with only a day's notice. And that too on a ticket they weren't even supposed to touch as it was a corporate ticket with a "hidden" fare. (I couldn't get in touch with the corp TA due to time differences.) And also managed to book a F award for the return segment next week. (Even had a choice for a J or F award for the return!) |
