Question: Meet a friend at BOM
 

I'll travel to Mumbai by Kingfisher from Bangkok, connecting in CCU and thus will arrive at terminal 1A. My friend will fly TG nonstop and will arrive at terminal 2C. Is there a shuttle between terminals and is there a place where we can meet outside the international terminal? What I understand is that only passengers are allowed inside. So if I come from the domestic terminal, I won't be able to enter the international terminal to meet my friend. Is that right?

There's a bus between terminals - and they are 3..4 kilometers apart so you do need the bus. The other alternative is cabbing it to somewhere like the Orchid, Le Royal Meridien, Hyatt etc and meeting in the hotel bar. I guess both of you are arriving in Bombay right.

Taking the shuttle from the domestic to international requires presentation of an international ticket/boarding pass. Entering the international terminal also requires an international ticket/boarding pass.

The shuttle from Domestic to International is only for pax with onward connections. You'll need to take a cab from 1A to 2C. Pre-paid options are available, and the journey shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes depending on time of day. If you want to meet at the 2C terminal (rather than at one of the hotels close to the International Airport) then there is an outdoor arrivals area, where you can wait for your friend (as you won't be allowed inside as PP have said). Not sure of your timings but you might want to wait in the bar/restaurant of one of the nearby 5* hotels (Le Meridien, Hyatt, ITC Maratha, Intercontinental)?
