Virgin mulls bid for bankrupt U.S. airline
Got this in the daily email from Tripso ... I'm still hoping UA can get the A gates (and raze the G terminal), then again low fares out of IAD would be nice.

Virgin is considering making an offer for America's recently bankrupted low-cost operator Independence Air in a move which would finally allow Sir Richard Branson to break into America's budget airline market. (The Independent)

The last thing I read on Virgin America was they were going to announce very soon who were going to be the investors in the airline and file the paperwork to the FAA to get their flying license by the end of the year. Also they have an office in NYC.

From a reliable British newspaper. Seems the operating licence is the item of interest.

Would be a great move, IMO.
