Does anyone know any of the following numbers?

LF for all carriers out of IAD in July.

LF for all carriers in the US in July.

Yeah, try booking IAD-BOS, even with the new 'sale.' US out of DCA is cheaper in some instances.

There will be a point of diminishing returns with fares this high.

I'm seeing $39 ow to BOS. It all depends on your travel days - flexibility is needed.

Hopefully those fares are up. But I wonder what % of their passengers are connecting passengers. I am willing to bet they still fly too many connecting passengers, who they lose a lot more money on than O&D pax from IAD. I bet they still have too many connecting pax flying on too low fares to come close to breaking even operationally.

I dunno.

I'm happy to have FlyI around since they keep the fares out of IAD (which I fly out of almost exclusively) low.

I'm going to be giving them a lot of business this winter to BOS. A big part of the reason is that I have a pretty regular schedule that I can plan far in advance and the fares on those days are super-cheap.

Another plus is the use of the B terminal at IAD. Sure beats taking the moon buggies to C terminal to catch a UAL flight.

Well, Southwest reported an all time record load factor (80.8%) for July.

Airtran was also 80.8%

Jetblue was 91.1%
http://biz.yahoo.com/pz/050804/83317.html

US was 81.9%
http://biz.yahoo.com/cbsmb/050803/77...fa7b.html?.v=1

United was 86.4%

So, while DH's load factor was up significantly, it remainded the lowest of all carriers with a significant presence in DC.
