Another Reason:
There is also another bonus that has been ongoing from November.
It is a fastrack to elite status for 2007 that will give you elite status if you have $250 in dines during this period.
Of special note is that there also is a 1,000 miles bonus, as well, that I am assuming elites -- such as myself -- would also receive. If not, well there are precious few other bonuses for me to shoot for at this juncture, so I might as well contine with AA and earn my 10 FF miles/$ spent.

Now you can qualify for Elite Dining status simply by spending $250 or more (including tax and tip) in qualified dines** between November 1 and December 31, 2006. Plus you’ll also earn 1,000 AAdvantage bonus miles once you reach Elite dining status during this special promotion! But you must register first in order to qualify.

The confusing part is the dines #3 - #6 must be rated to get credit. Easier to think of them as three sub-promos with one registration for all:
2 dines = 500 miles -->
4 rated dines = 1000 miles -->
5 dines = 100 miles (each)
It would have been much more straightforward to have done something like 5 rated dines = 1000 miles, and 5 more = another 1000.

I got mine
I show two 1000-mile line items AAdvantage Dining Bonus Miles on last month's online AA statement, dated 12/15/06. They appear on my RN/iDine account on 12/15/06 Bonus - Miles for Meals, showing as transferred to AA on 1/17/07.

The thing got weird on us. In another thread people are reporting getting as much as 6,000 miles:

I got 4,000, even though I never did figure out how this thing was supposed to work.
Apparantly, neither did AAdvantage and iDine.
