Using registered card number in someone else's name?

Quick question... say Person A registered a particular credit card number for RN. Person B is an authorized user on the credit card account and is NOT registered for RN.

If Person B uses the card at a RN restaurant, does Person A still get the miles?

(I suspect the system as recognizing just the number and doesn't care about the name, but wanted to confirm if this is anyone else's experience.)

I don't see how that's much different than this:

Yes, if the credit card number is the same, person A will earn the miles/points when person B uses the AU card.

Amex has different CC numbers for the AU, so it would not work in that example.
