I Still Don't Understand How One Earns VIP Status

I am still confused about how many dines one needs to get VIP status. Now that we have started the year, here is what it says in two different places -

On the page where it explains what is required to become a VIP Member - "You have 12 or more qualified transactions in the calendar year."

Elsewhere, on the "My Account" page, where I have no recorded dines for 1010, it says -

"Miles to date: 0
Dines to maintain VIP status: 11"

So which is it - do I need 12 dines in a calendar year or 11?

Thanks.

Eleven

If you had no prior status, your 12th dine earns 5 miles (8 PC points)/dollar.

If you did earn top status last year, you'll be renewed for 2011 when your 11th dine posts to your account.
