2010 Annual Tally - Miles / Points earned this year

Above all else, I come to FT to be inspired by possibilities. So I'd like to know about truly impressive results obtained by the savviest participants in the Rewards Network program. I'm done for 2009 (virtually all my dining out is business related) and I have 21,472 miles on AS to show for the year. Which seems pretty good to me. But I'm betting some of you can make that look paltry. So how did you do? And how did you do it?

I think I'm done for the year too and I managed to rack up 36,892 UA miles this year. Better for me than in 2008. (26,907 UA last year based on my post in last years thread - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/idine...ll-2008-a.html) I however think 2010 will be challenging for me since one of my local favorites recently dropped out of the program and not much has been added recently in my area. I have also found that finding good participants in the cities that I frequently travel to has become more difficult.

American - 21,618 miles
Delta - 8,417 miles posted, thousands more owed (Tis the Season bonus), and counting
United - 1,138 miles
Midwest - 764 miles
US Airways - 435 miles
Priority Club - 2,877 points
HHonors - 1,159 points
Southwest - 0.25 credits

and probably a few more from Northwest before the program was shut down. Yes, I am a Dining Program Slut.

I guess I’m done Idining this year as well as we are about to head to Sequoia, where there are no Idineries, and will finish out the year in Kauai, where there are no Idineries that appear worth going into Kapaa to eat at.

This year’s 84,980 AA miles is 50,000 miles less than last year’s AA total, and the first time in half a dozen years that I’m south of 100,000. RN didn’t make it easy/tempting to earn big this year.

Not a high mileage year for me as I tend to enjoy cheaper meals than most here (my favorite being the $7 steak sandwich, fries and soda at Corleone's in Tempe). It looks like a lot of restaurants in AZ are leaving the program sadly.

AA: 4,371 Miles on 30 Dines.
UA: 192 Miles on 1 Dine.

Total: 4,531 Miles on 31 Dines.

AAdvantage Dining may not have made it easy/tempting to earn big, but if you'd quit being monogamous with AAdvantage Dining, Rewards Network has offered some nice rewards with other partners.

I'd say you managed to earn pretty big nonetheless. Are these all personal meals out? All business? A combination?

I am still waiting for many dines to post. Here are my totals if all goes well.

AA-18,132
DL-7,212
US-2,004

Guilty as charged: my little brain can’t juggle that many programs at once, I don’t want to spend the time swapping around credit cards, and there is too good of a chance that I end up orphaning miles by being promiscuous.

The lion’s share is business: a lot of management meetings…our staff Xmas luncheon was over $600, I try to have advisory board meetings at Idineries, and then there’s inmate pizza night which runs a couple of hundred a pop a couple of times per month. I’d guess personal eating is less than 20%.

Non-NonRev Dec 17, 2009 6:17 pm

About 3K miles on 14 dines.

All of them as a solo diner, average check maybe $15 to $20.

atxtraveler Dec 17, 2009 7:31 pm

40,000 AA miles earned, down 55,000 from last year thanks to the reduced awards.

margarita girl Dec 21, 2009 4:23 am

Also a disappointing year with AA for me.

2007 - 64,000
2008 - 52,000
2009 - 37,000

I will probably finish the year at 5000 with DL/NW due to the current promo, and a smattering of points in other programs just because of partner bonuses.

tudorcity Dec 21, 2009 6:25 am

Disappointing year for me as well. Lack of good promotions, not as many good restaurants and the fact that I hit 2 MM on AA in 2007 and haven't felt the need to go out of my way to find idine restaurants has caused a big drop in miles over the last four years:

2006: 104,264
2007: 73,425
2008: 48,242
2009: 25,410

dstan Dec 22, 2009 11:55 am

A paltry showing this year, indicative of the downgrades to RN :td::

AA 2007: 33,773 mi
AA 2008: 38,736 mi
AA 2009: 10,156 mi

(plus a few hundred PC and HH points chasing promotions)
