Cannot register on Iberia.com

I'm trying to create a profile on Iberia.com but I keep getting the following error message for Document Number; "The Tax Identification Number entered is invalid".

I enter my passport number but I keep getting an error message. Is there a work around for this? Thanks.

Could it be an error in the site? The same exact thing happened to me just now and when I searched for info about this, your post was the only thing I found. That makes me believe it's not an old problem.

Spanish computer systems are often crap.

A bank once had my second surname as "no tiene", which is Spanish for "doesn't have", because their computer system wouldn't accept that some people don't have 2 surnames...

The system is possibly rejecting numbers that don't follow the Spanish D.N.I. format. If you can't leave it blank, you might have more luck entering 8 random numbers and a letter. i.e. 12345678A

I checked their facebook page and other people are having the same problem. On facebook, they told me it's a computer glitch and they should have it fixed in a few days. I wish there was a workaround for this. I've tried all number, letters, alphanumeric, nothing seems to work.

There were some posts dating back to Nov 8 on this issue on their Facebook page, at least 3 posts, the lastest one was this morning.

It looks like they just removed these posts since I don't see them anymore. I asked them if they could create an account for me via email and they said they could not.

As you are registering as a non Spaniard try Y1234567X as a valid format for a foreigner ID number. (I even made sure the verification character was correct)

I've tried registering as a Spaniard and as USA and neither work. I still get the same error message. There is a glitch in the system that they are working on.

Work Around

I had this issue. I worked around it by entering my passport number but two numbers less than the full number. The system accepted that and once i had an account, it was simple to add the missing two numbers. Maybe Spanish passport numbers are shorter than normal ones!

From memory the Spanish passport has the same amount of characters/numbers as my UK passport. I have seen ones with 3 letters and then 6 numbers. For example ABC999999
