IberiaExpress

New site
http://www.iberiaexpress.com/en/

If you book on that site the flights will have IATA code I2, if
you book on the iberia site they will have the IB code.
Whatever that means for earning miles/Avios is anybody's guess.

They will launch 4 international routes and 2 domestic ones to begin with

Según explicó el diputado, «podríamos hablar de hasta dos en España, que podrían ser Galicia o País Vasco y al menos cuatro en Europa». Sánchez mencionó como posibles destinos Berlín, Brujas, Londres y París.

How are the three different brands differentiated, I wonder...

Iberia mainline, alright

Vueling, low-cost (but usually also with IB codeshare - sometimes the same time slot gets operated by IB, sometimes VY, e.g. Berlin...)

IberiaExpress - "the airline with the cheaper flights"
Is there more to it than being a tool to torture the trade unions?

Confused:confused:

I have been asking myself the same question.
The way I see it: Vueling used to be (at least for the Iberia part) Clickair, which was Iberia's plan to get out of El Prat (BCN) and leave those pesty Catalans with low cost flights only. :)
And I think they now start IB Express to also move part of their MAD operations to a low cost model. (I assume they cannot simply move them to Vueling, for legal and other reasons.)

Just my guess, as I have no inside knowledge.

IberiaExpress, same thing as Iberia but pilots and crew with lower salaries.:-)
Iberia doesn't own more than 49% of Vueling maybe that is why they decided to
start a new company, in addition IBEXP will have 2 classes.

Thanks to Spanairs bankruptcy they are certainly in a position to pick and choose, this article says that 3400 pilots has applied

You might be right, because I don't really see any difference for the passengers. They will still have a Business class, and Economy on IB is already as basic as it gets right now.

This is supposed to be the first plane, a 20 year old A320 which has been renovated (or at least re-painted ;) )

What will the AA mileage earning be on Iberia Express? Will it be the same as Iberia, since they will be a oneworld "associate"?

Probably if it has an IB flight number,

If it has an I2 flight number I see one important difference
Luggage allowance is 0, 1 piece will cost you €15

IB is almost a budget airline with the fact that you have to pay for a glass of water on board the plane for EU trips under 3 hours.

I2 require you to pay for luggage ...

I do not like neither IB nor I2. Both a little better than complete rubbish.

So when will we know for sure if this will be confirmed 2-class aircraft? I just spent a whole lot of $$ booking our family vacation to southern Spain for the summer in Business (x5) and i'm a little worried to see my connecting flights (albeit 55min with economy seating / middle seat blocked) turn into an 'EasyJet' style stampede.

(After reading Press Release from OneWorld - it answered my above question)

Also - do we know if there's a change to the Avios earning structure on these flights? I know it’s only 20TPs (BAEC) each way - but every TP counts!

If booked with an IB code, TP's will be just as they would be with Iberia "proper"
