"Iberia Plus flights": IB introducing Avios-only flights

BA did this last year so it was only a matter of time, but IB is now selling "Iberia Plus flights" booked with Avios or Avios+Money.

Just four flights to start:
IB3324 MAD-JTR 7 July at 4:50 p.m.
IB3325 JTR-MAD 14 July at 10:15 p.m.
IB3274 MAD-CTA 27 July at 8:40 a.m.
IB3275 CTA-MAD 3 August at 12 p.m.

They're full redemption tickets.

IB appear to be offering a 50% discount on Avios needed to buy these flights at the moment.

They posted about these on social media a week or so ago and the general reaction was lots of people who didn't understand how Avios work, who were very upset they couldn't book the flights.

Confused...so every seat can only be bought with avios (+cash) or every seat can be bought regularly with cash-only but also avios (+cash)?
For all the regular flights, a certain number of seats are reserved for avios redemption but if are no takes are they made to be able to be sold for cash?

Weren't they 50% off from the beginning? I think they've just changed the wording to highlight the discount.

For the JTR-MAD leg, for example, there are other dates in July also available for the same price (11,000 avios) so I'm not sure what the 50% discount here would be.

11,000 avios is the going rate in biz with the discount; in economy (Blue class) without, as far as I can tell:

I thought accommodation prices in JTR would be game over booking this late for those peak dates, but I see rentals for 150ish/n?

So a family of 4 can book a week in JTR for 150*7 + 5500*2*4 avios = 440 + 50*4 = 200 , so 1690? Not bad actually, cheaper than Spain.

Indeed, checked another account registered in Spain and it was half price.

Not bad, but what a strange promo.

Oh dear. Clearly not going well: the 50% off discounts for the Avios-only flights are back, this time through 12th June.
