Iberia Plus Elite Points earned from OW premium economy flights

Hi All,

I have a question regarding Elite Points accrual in IB+

When you check the website (both english and spanish version are the same)

https://www.iberia.com/be/iberiaplus/earn-elite-points/

There is a table of how many Elite Points you will get with your IB flight. You get different points depending on class of booking, and there is a specific category for premium economy.

But when you look at the table of Other Airlines, there is no category for premium economy! There is one extra for First Class, which make sense, but you go directly from Full Economy to Business Class.

So my question is, if I book premium economy with a OW airline (like BA, for example), and want to credit to IB+, how many elite points will I earn? Logic says same than Full Economy, but I find that a bit annoying, since you are missing 150 EP in a given normal return flight to NA or SA compared to what you will get with a IB flight.

Anyone has any first hand info about this?

Thanks in advance,

Look carefully. Itīs there in the same column as Full fare economy "Premium / Full Economy".

I guess its self explanatory

Instead of looking at that tab you should open Get Avios and go to the airline you want. The tables will show both Avios and Elite Points per fare class. For a flight to North America you get 425 Elite Poins with BA, same as with Iberia.

This is what I get in the website. Not mention at all to Premium, only Full Economy.

That is a great piece of info!

Thank you very much Yllanes

Hi, I'm new to IB+, so still getting my mind around it.

I have the same issue. I have a lot of work trips (all in Economy) and want to make sure I get the right fare classes to earn Gold Status by March 31, 2020. But on my BA flights I don't know which classes are considered "Full Economy" or "Discount Economy" for Elite Points. The table Yllanes and tobsw mentioned has the Elite Points and the distances, but doesn't have the exact fare classes for what is "Full Economy" or "Discount Economy". Obviously I can get a good hint of which fare classes are considered for each fare group by looking at the Avios Earning table, but I would cautiously assume that won't be correct all the times... or can I always trust that?

Thanks!

You should use the link Yllanes posted to check for specific fare classes on specific airlines.

Making Gold on IB with economy flights...I admire your persistence. :)

Full economy is Y,B,H - as a general rule. Everything else, discount economy.

Thanks, this is helpful. I will use that as a rule of thumb, the same way I was using the table from the Get Avios page.

But, for instance, IB includes P from LA as Full Economy and only A and C from AA as Full Economy in the Get Avios page, but I'm not sure if they use these same classes for Elite Points as this is not stated anywhere (the fare classes besides just distance flown), and that is where I have been a little confused.

Haha, I know. To be honest, I'm not finding it too hard given I fly short-haul all over Spain all the time. An upcoming long-haul on BA will help me to boost it and make sure I make it... I was posting my IB flights to LA where I still have OW-Saphire status, but LA is leaving OW this year. Maybe I'm just so used to be miserable flying short-haul that I'm not minding anymore :)

Ah! Sorry, for partners you can rely on the "Avios table" for each partner.
