Premium Economy Questions

I'm looking to book a trip from IAD-MAD and researching fares.

I have an option of flying to Madrid on an AA flight that departs from Charlotte or a direct Iberia flight so I want to compare the two.

Are the seats in Premium Economy worth the extra price? I'm looking for some comfort since this will be an overnight flight. Also, do they serve free meals or do I need to pay for those too?

If you have flown in PE before in any other carrier let me know and I will be able to tell you whether (for my taste) is better or not. Without a baseline of what you know about PE will be difficult.
I recall I've flown in BA, IB, AA, JAL, CX and LH PE seats, so I can compare within them, if you know any of them let me know and I can tell you.

It also depends pretty much on the price difference and the good (or bad) sleeper you are in planes...

In simple terms, Premium Economy on IB is like Economy with "better/bigger" seats.

It's probably worth it on an overnight flight. Seats are good, 2-3-2 arrangement with decent recline and a footrest; they have longer seat cushions that say BA, which is much more comfortable after a couple hours. Try to book the first row of the cabin and you'll have room to get out of a window seat without having to climb over a seatmate. Meals and drinks are included. You'll also get priority security (at least in MAD) and boarding, and 2 checked bags.
