Iberia Crew Didn't Check Seat Belt

I recently flew IB in C and was boarded the flight late and had a lot of emails to respond to so I was a bit absentminded but next thing I know, we're on the runway taking off and my PDB is still on the table and my seat belt wasn't even fastened. I know I should've been paying more attention, but aren't FAs supposed to conduct safety checks before sitting down and giving the ok for takeoff?

In theory yes (as you know, seems like a rhetoric question to me!), in practice... I've found longhaul IB cabin crew more than lax. Short haul, not so much. Iberia Express? The only thing on their mind.

I took off once and forgot to fasten my seat belt,

Looked around to blame someone, and I was the only person on the plane.

I set the DG, and no one said a thing,
