A350 back on MAD-LHR [9 Mar to 31 May 2019]

Aplogies if this has already been mentioned.

It looks as if Iberia have put the A350 back on the IB3166 and IB3167 flights between 9th March and 30th March 2019. I for one will be taking advantage of this as I missed out last summer, and need an interesting tier point run by April!

It looks to me like it's until 31 May, with seatmaps already updated. Looks like they are in the process of changing the listed aircraft type.

Wow, even better!

I'm guessing the reason behind this is continued crew familiarisation needed, as the fleet continues to grow over the coming months?

Perhaps, although I would have thought that newer crew could be trained on the existing long-haul routes alongside more experienced crew.

It could also be about cargo and/or fleet optimisation (for those routes where they can't just shuttle back and forth with just a couple of hours on the ground)

I thought it was because for the moment they just have 3 so the utilization is a bit strange until they get 4 and start sending them to EZE.

It looks like they're swapping out the A350 for an A340/A330 for some of the days. I was booked on IB3167 on the 10th of April which was changed to an A330... nearest dates I can find now with the A350 are the 7th and the 12th

Oh rats - never a good sign. My travel dates in March are still showing as 359 for the 16th and 17th. Are you going to change your dates?

Same for me - IB3166 on 10 April. I've also had IB3166 swapped from 359 to 332 a couple weeks ago on 14 April.

Yup

I had a bit of flexibility and wanted to try the A350 so it was worth the 25€ change fee. I hope the changes are final

Damn, I was originally 350, then 340, back to 350 a few weeks ago but now showing 340 again for 17th March.

17th March is still showing as an A350 where I'm looking. Where are you seeing A340?

Well there you go, another change. It was on the IB website and Google flights the other day, now both have changed again. Let's see!

Deal

There was a really good price available yesterday for 12-15th of April. £65 return in economy. Would of made a nice weekend in Madrid. The only reason I was hesitant is that BA website was showing A340 as outbound even when google flights are showing A350 even now. Needless to say the price has gone up to £90 which is still way cheaper than other ‘budget’ airlines but that £15 fare was unbeatable.

Check Iberia as well, and if both that and google flights are showing as an A350, then I would trust this over what it says on BA. I'm booked on an A350 flight and it still shows as an A340 on the BA site. I also use Expert Flyer quite a lot to check seat maps for future flights, as this shows accurate information about planned aircraft types. Obviously always still subject to change for operational reasons!
