Question about through bags/single tickets
 

Not sure if anyone can help but I would like to book FRA-VLC and the complete flights through MAD are coming up as £200+. If I look at 2 singles it works out as £140... The connection is only 55mins,

Is it possible to turn up at the airport and ask them to check the bag all the way through as I will have both boarding cards already...

Official policy - no. Chances they deviate? Quite low, from reports here.

That said, I got a bag checked through on separate tickets (and separate PNRs) MAD-GVA-CDG IB-AF (with 9 hours in GVA) last week.

Your question, "is it possible" means that the answer is, of course, yes. But, it is highly unlikely to occur and as IB has a 45-minute bag check deadline at MAD, you would only have 10 minutes to offload, make it all the way through formalities to baggage claim, claim your bag and lug it to IB check-in for the onward separate ticket. A long way of saying that you will wind up as a no show.

Either purchase the single ticket or choose other frequencies or routes.
