Does IB share a desk with BA at LAX?
 
Flying in June, I see that IB's flight departs at 17:40, which I am flying, but BA has a flight at 15:30. I imagine the BA desk will open at around 12 which would be nice as I am arriving on another airline in the morning at 11 and would like to check in ASAP. Will it be possible to check in for IB's flight at the BA counter as soon as it opens?

IB doesn't share desk with BA. They have their own outsourced staff. Normally counter opens 3h before departure of the flight or a little bit earlier.

Same situtation than you last summer and need to wait to check-in bags .

There are few, if any, airports where you can check in for an IB flight at a BA counter. The two airlines operate separately.
