  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.

DOCS?: DOCS or NO DOCS. Did you submit identity documentation to IB?

I've never done a chargeback before so I know nothing about it. I assumed that once you paid the bill, there is no option for chargeback. So I am apparently incorrect on that.

Just a small comment: a lot of people in this thread are referring to the "clasico inbox" (as in this message) or similarly misspelling it as "classica", "classico", etc. Please note that the correct address is [email protected].

I wouldn't mention it except for the fact that there are also reports of people saying that IB+ has not acknowledged receipt of their emails. You should at the very least get an automatic message from them acknowledging receipt (before a "human" reply). And remember to include your IB+ number in the subject.

I have been lurking in this forum for awhile, and feel I owe something back:

To date:
-Created a new account for this promo
-Booked 10 one way flights
-Submitted passport and flight info as instructed
-Received 'inconsistency' email;
-Emailed back, no reply
-Emailed execs and posted on social media

This morning, received the following email:


"Dear:

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences we may have caused you for not being able to respond until today the e-mail you sent us regarding our 9,000 Avios promotion.

In relation with the 9,000 Avios campaign for flights booked on iberia.cXm we have reviewed your request and the information you supplied. We have sent the information to the relevant department for the awarding of the promotional Avios, if the information in your booking is correct, you should see these credit in your account during the following week."

Kind regards

Your Iberia Plus Service Center."

I got that email a couple of days ago on my partners account - as yet no Avios though. On my account nada !

The did say the following week.

I am giving them till next Saturday and that would align with your timing as well.

Ah - I see now - your wording is slightly different to mine - mine says "If the information in your bookings is correct, you should see these credited in your account very shortly" - a week sounds more realistic based on events so far

I did not include the passport copy. However it seems that the emails to the exec. might help but not in alll cases. Here Avios got posed for 1/2 accounts some hours after the email to the execs. but not sure whether this was the trigger.
As mentioned before the positive answer was the reply to an email to [email protected] dated 7-5-18

Emailed to 3 execs yesterday for both of our accounts. Got a "receipt" email overnight. Then we got 4 more emails:
2 emails back with the "sorry for the delay, we will send new PINs.
2 emails with new PIN for each of us.
Neither new PIN works.

They are just trying to wear us down. Canned replies.
They are waiting us out. They figure come July 28, just before the "Official deadline to get refund" of July 31, everyone will give up and get the refunds and we will be out of their hair.

I got the same emails last night after exec emails. However, my PINs do work, and my accounts appear to be unlocked. No Avois though. I suspect we'll see something within the week.

We opened new accounts and booked 4 tix each for a family of 5, all of which we plan to fly.
No bonuses for anyone. Most accounts PIN locked, but at least for mine I was able to unlock. Still no bonuses.
None of us has received any communication at all from Iberia.
New IB FF account numbers were repeatedly stripped off our reservations and I have added them back in 2-3 times. They seem to have stuck now.
I emailed the clasica email address provided above and asked for credit of our 9k per booking.
I have 2 separate tix in August that were pretty expensive, they would be exorbitant now on another carrier so I will have to stick with those. But I will probably cancel the other 2 and rebook elsewhere.
I will probably follow up with exec emails at some point, not holding my breath though.

The thing that really annoys me is that there are some well-priced IB business class tickets that I would like to use in the future for our family. I definitely would not credit to IB FF accounts, but this leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I am loathe to give this airline $7,500 of our money after this incident. Penny wise and pound foolish on their part...

My timeline for those interested:

June 23: make account and book 10 flights one way Santander to Madrid, each 1 day apart.
July 3rd: Proactively email my passport after seeing reports here to do that
July 4th: Receive mass email from Iberia asking for passport AND bookings confirmations - sent that
July 14th: Receive this email from Iberia:
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences we may have caused you for not being able to respond until today the e-mail you sent us regarding our 9,000 Avios promotion.

We correctly received your documentation and we would like to inform you that we have proceeded to activate your Iberia Plus account and to generate a new temporary access PIN code for you to enter into your Iberia Plus personal profile. You will receive it soon on the e-mail address associated to your Iberia Plus account.

Keep in mind that this is a temporary access PIN code; therefore, you must change it once you enter your profile.

In relation with the 9,000 Avios campaign for flights booked on iberia.com, we have reviewed your request and the information you supplied. We have sent the information to the relevant department for the awarding of the promotional Avios, if the information in your booking is correct, you should see these credit in your account during the following week.
I have not harassed support or emailed executives. If everyone does that it will just slow down the process for the rest of us.

I hope to have avios some time next week.

Also, it used to say please contact support when I was looking at award bookings - it doesn't any more.

As a data point, I also sent my info in on July 4 from the US. However, I sent my passport as a JPG with the full passport number blurred because of data theft concerns. They sent an email back today saying they couldn't process with the passport number blurred. It also made a reference to refunds without the July 31 date.

Guess I'll send it back.

I had points posted on accounts that didn't have the Iberia FF# initially. Re passport, I had to go in and correct the passport # to match the passport (on a few new accounts I entered a wrong one because I didn't know). After I corrected the passport and resent, points posted . They really look for passport # to match your Iberia + profile.
