  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.

USER: Your FT username

YEAR: Optional. Year account opened.
DOCS?: DOCS or NO DOCS. Did you submit identity documentation to IB?
VERIFIED: VERIFIED or UNVERIFIED. Has IB actually verified the docs you submitted yet (via email confirmation)?
POSTED?: POSTED or NOT POSTED. Points posted to account?

First email sent on 7/4 with my identification and booking details, and received no reply back. Just sent my 2nd email and received an auto-reply 3hrs later.

It really looks clear noe that Iberia just wanted customers who already werw customers to be part of this offer. So why the hell did they not just send out an email to answer with a personal link were we register for the promo? As other do.

No, see English version. Using Avios to discount your flight is only available on Iberia, but redemptions are specifically open to Iberia or “associated companies” - and plenty have already been able to redeem on partners.

Theories

At this point is it safe to throw out any balance sheet related conspiracy theories as to the nature of the promo? Or perhaps it’s jucier than originally thought, q2 got a big top line boost? (I’m not an accountant, will leave it to the pros to hypothesize)

To me the most likely explaination is just gross incompetence in Iberia HQ, and slow decision-making process after it became clear how juicy this promotion really was.

Has anyone actually had their new account verified, unlocked and the points paid? Or is everyone being offered refunds due to “inconsistencies”?

Only few countable person got response with the word "inconsistencies" from IB.

I can only add my data point - account 2 years old, no previous flight activity but some amex points pushed over & some rental car points accumulated. Booked ten flights, received the 90k points, booked reward flights for 87k for use later in July. No issues so far.

I’m struggling to keep up with this because I am mostly outside enjoying the summer weather! So I am somewhere in the middle of the page 90s. I thought that I read somewhere that the 90,000 or whatever bonus Avios had to be spent on Iberia flight redemptions, not partner flights. So those of you who are using them for partner flights in Australia and elsewhere might still have issues on 1 December. I might be wrong, but I really thought these were supposed to be used on Iberia flights only.

Concerto, no, you just have to use the Avios by 1st of december.

If you read carefully hte T&Cs you will realise that you had to book an Iberia, Iberia Express o Air Nostrum flight in order to qualify for the 9K Avios.

You can redeem ad libitum, as long as it is withing IbPlus.

My thoughts exactly.

I've sent my passport scan but will likely initiate cc disputes instead of sending them my tickets.

If they pay the same fees as other merchants, these disputes will cost IB $25 each on top of the refund.

I strictly followed the T&C's and relied on statements from IB that this will be honored. I went the extra step of confirming to them that I am who I said I was when opening my account. I think that's all I need to do.

Using a chargeback mechanism to inflict pain on a company when they have already indicated they will refund you....Who's the unethical one now?

We sent 5 emails yesterday with passport scans and confirmation emails.
Didn't receive a single confirmation.
Would you send the emails again?

So we have a handful of inconsistencies, and the odd one that has been successful with a new account. Has anyone with a new account outside of the countries listed after the promo (not in the T&C originally) been successful?
