  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.
Iberia Plus offer 9000 per booking 21/JUN to 24/JUN on iberia.com

The Spanish surname thing of paternal and maternal names has long been an issue on Iberia for names where its just the single surname. If thats their get out its very shabby.

Therefore, they cancelled all my bookings and sent me refund notice (I got all of them sitting in my INBOX now though I did not ask for a refund) - YES, bookings were cancelled by IB and I can not see any bookings in my account.

Points were still there but I guess they will be taken away. Shall I immediately make the booking then?
Was Germany one of the 'entitled' countries?
I got mine with an old account. Mrs SI, who signed up as a new member for this promo, did not. Going through the drawn out email process.

Edit: found this on a random bloggers site re: countries included: " Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Russia, United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico and the US"

You can try but I bet you'll get a message like this: "To be to use your Avios we ask that you contact your Iberia Plus Customer Service Centre: (+34) 91 374 24 42. We apologise for the inconvenience."

Thought transfers were being blocked. Has that changed?

I wonder if the only reason they're asking people to email them is that they want to find out which tickets to cancel?

It's probably more of an issue with the browser's autocomplete than with their website (bad as it is). I have the opposite problem with American webpages where, if I'm not careful, my first surname gets repeated as a middle name.

I believe yes.

What is interesting is that everything seems to work well until today I just suddenly get all cancellation notice of all booked flights... not sure what is happening at the backend.

It does look that way. I edited my post. Here is the country list: "Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Russia, United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico and the US"

If so, you probably have a case. Start by emailing them requesting credit as you were eligible, but somehow the system did not include your IB# - even though you were logged in at the time. Include each of the email confirmations that contain your IB# - not the e-tickets as those do not have IB#s (yep, odd, but true).
yep the booking confirmation emails show my IB number. Ive emailed them so Ill keep you all updated.

I think that is the case still. I just meant, if your IB and BA accounts are connected and the IB account is -90k when the consolidation of the programs is complete they might be able to claw back the 90k from your BA account.

So, if you can book flights before they take the miles away, do it! If your accounts are connected, do it but be aware it might bite you later.

This isnt exactly the same but i have an account from 2014. The only activity I had was transferiing from BA and using those Avios, I had a one way from MAD-JFK last September, using 34k miles, and had to cancel. I got the taxes back but i kept checking and no Avios. I called and was told the Avios disappeared because i had no activity on my account except transfers, which did not count as activity. I spent a lot of time trying to get them reinstated and finally gave up.

Hopefully your account had other activity within the last 36 months and its just a delay. Iberia is the worst to deal with.

I wish one of our blogger friends would start writing about this and get some publicity.

Blogger "FRIENDS"??? c'mon man, those words do not go together in the same sentence. They will write about everything which gives them additional readers/advertisers.

Since should not take this off topic- I have 4 new family accounts. Sent in form/passport- got immediate acknowledgement. Next day sent same with copies of tickets. 2 days later received 2 acknowledgments. Accounts did not work, changed PIN on app so have access to all 4 but all "0." All bookings have the FF#'s. Awaiting something- ordered more popcorn.---

just received my other 2 acknowledgements (so now cooking popcorn).

I've had my account now for 5+ years. I bought 10 one-way tickets that made sense (departure on Thursday, return on Saturday), etc etc.
I got this email and have received the 90,000 points. Still can log into my account fine.

Hi, actually it doesn't say anything about using the points.. just says "you got 90,000 Avios points in the month of June".
