  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.

Please do a separate data point for each account. If you opened accounts for others (spouse, child, parent, etc), please make a separate entry for each account you opened. Please follow the formatting below so we have some consistency. USER: Your FT username
OWNER: SELF or WIFE/CHILD/MOM/DAD/etc. Owner of the account (i.e. the name on the account).
ACCT: NEW or OLD. New = created during promo period. Old = created prior to promo period.
YEAR: Optional. Year account opened.
DOCS?: DOCS or NO DOCS. Did you submit identity documentation to IB?
VERIFIED: VERIFIED or UNVERIFIED. Has IB actually verified the docs you submitted yet (via email confirmation)?
POSTED?: POSTED or NOT POSTED. Points posted to account?
# PTS: How many points have posted to the account so far?
MISSING: How many points (that were expected) did not actually post?

Not only that but if the account goes negative in December - as they are saying it would - then Iberia can assess a customer's account for payment.
Lufthansa did it years ago and folks within the EU ended up paying thousands in some cases.
Knowingly permitting an account to go into negative territory with no intention to make up the shortfall when Iberia claws them back in December is getting into murky waters - some would argue it's fraudulent when you know the rules and go ahead anyway.

Ridiculous that it would take a week. Still don't see why they couldn't have begun this process nearly a week ago. We could have been sending in passport photos and validating the info in the meantime and not had any delay in posting the points.

Just wondering if there is anyone who received the Avios points that are not from the countries mentioned? I'm in Canada but I purchased my tickets on the US-English site.

I have a new Iberia account so no points as of yet.

Yes i think so. I tried to transfer my own avios (non bonus) from IB to BA, return failed, and also failed the other way from BA to IB. Then I tried to use my elder bro's account whom hasnt involve in this promo, failed the both ways. Seems they are going to block all transfers between accounts until they find a way to stop ppl moving bonus avios.

Just as a data point, if I have an old account, and I can access it normally, but I still have 0 points, do I need to send in the verification form along with a copy of the passport? Or is that strictly for new accounts, and I just need to be patient? Thanks.

They are clearly overwhelmed and so far honestly this has actually gone pretty well compared to how it could have. Yeah it sucks but you can blame your fellow "travel hackers: as much as Iberia. When folks are creating accounts for Pepe the Cat then Iberia is going to react (hey I am a poet). If you were not comfortable with the risk and didn't have various contingencies you should not have played the game.

I totally understand that they need to weed out the fake accounts people set up for their dogs. But literally on June 25 they could have sent out a uniform, generic email to all new accounts that they would need to provide passport photos to match. They could have been working on the validation process for nearly a week now, rather than having to focus on it at the exact same time they are actually distributing the Avios. Yes, the demand was unexpected. But they knew that the moment the promo period ended and could have gotten to work right then and there on processing the backlog.

Forget about your new accounts that are "legitimate" and crying about scammers.

My IB Oro (Gold) account opened years ago still hasn't gotten anything. Some of you need to check your entitlement, seriously

I opened my account in 2016 and credited hotel points a few months after that so there was at least some activity (I was aiming for a BA > IB transfer after 90 days but ended up never needed it). I transferred in some points from Amex a few days ago to top off my account in anticipation. Tickets purchased on the 21st and 22nd; Avios posted this afternoon and now all gone - I grabbed the seats I was watching!

Only odd thing is the double pending charges for the two award tickets I purchased.
