- Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
- Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
- Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.

What if someone genuinely wanted to fly and didn't care (or even know) about the promo? Not great to have your flight cancelled without warning! Or are they being a little more selective and refunding people with 10 cheap Oviedo - Madrid flights all booked on the same day.

Something strange is going on with the Avois in my IB account... Wonder if it's related to the work that Iberia are undoubtedly doing behind the scenes...
I've had it for around two years and have only ever used it for the Avis 18000 Avois promotion a while back. Today a random 500 Avois have been credited "Courtesy of Intercontinental Hotels Group".
I've got absolutely no idea where that has come from as I've never used my IB number elsewhere. Still waiting for the 90k Avios to post...

2) I don't recall the exact figures, but it tends to issue just north of 100 billion avios per year. As an indicator, 100k*90k is 9 billlion (there also tends to be 3 year expiry). This issuing of avios seems a reasonably big percentage, 10% extra and..
the concern here is the fact that there is a defined spend period, and the interpretation by many that it will have to be Iberia metal. Factor in the majority of people 'aware' of this promotion were not typical iberia customers and the likelihood is that desirable spend of avios will be aimed toward particular long haul routes in premium seats... then the likelihood of questionable availability seems reasonable. As for hysterics, I don't know what that is.. this is the internet..
From memory, this 9 billion (based on 100k accounts) issuance of avios would represent just over 5% of total avios.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they simply refunded all tickets and cancelled the promo: “Due to fraud (mass creation of accounts), we are unable to honor the promotion. As compensation everyone will get 500 Avios and if you book again next weekend, for every ticket worth 200$ or more, you will get 900 Avios instead.” ;-)
Would be an easy way out for them to blaim it on the customers. That way they wouldn’t have to deal with finding out which tickets were “legit” etc. either.

I booked 20 one-ways for 2 people. 16 tickets were cancelled automatically.
I can still log into the accounts. They are not new accounts. I booked from the US site.
All 20 transactions posted to my AMEX a few days after the purchases. Apparently not a credit card issue.

No 500 Avios for me, I want 500 Avios too!
I fully intend to fly everything I booked, if 90000 avios appear in my account then I will be happy to spend them. No court cases or chargebacks if there are no Avios. Not judging Iberia too harshly until we find out what they're up to, but I certainly expected that it wouldn't be plain sailing. I booked on the second day of the promo, I simply didn't believe it would work out on the first day, figured I would jump in and see where it goes on the second day.

Definitely some work going on behind the scenes. The last activity on my account was 2016, and today I had 900 Avios deducted (leaving a balance of minus 900). It simply says "ACCOUNT READJUSTMENT-0508". No idea what for.
