  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.

Business with BA CPH-LAX-CPH costs only 90000 avios?

This is a good question: if you buy what is here a purely BA trip, you can use more cash to reduce the number of Avios. Below is for one person return in Business Class (Club Europe / Club World) CPH to LHR to LAX and back. Prices are in GB pounds sterling. So to get 2 people on a 90k Avios pile, you are looking to contribute Ł427 per person instead of a minimum of Ł267 per person, and that would take just under 80k Avios total for 2 people.

Anyone hesitant to book award flights scheduled after their 10 one-ways that never get flown?

Safe to say once an award is booked, Avios redeemed, and a ticket issued it's pretty rock-sold?

I've asked the same question - general thoughts are once a ticket is booked/ticketed and touches US soil we should be OK - it would be expensive for Iberia to cancel these - as consumers we have protections. But I have/had the same concerns.

Hmmm... same here.
Already booked an award flight after the throw away one-ways. And the award flight doesnt touch US soil.

Maybe changing the IB number for another OW (LA or AA) number on the noshow tickets will help?

Any idea what this means? I have one account, no shenanigans. My info matches perfectly.
-------------

We have verified the information regarding the application that you have sent us, it has been detected that the account that is being made was due to the lack of duplicity, so it is not possible to make the Avios entry in your account

If you wish to cancel any of the tickets you bought for the promotion, you may do so free of charge on this exceptional occasion by sending us the ticket number (which begins with 075) before the 31st of July (Spanish Time - UTC/GMT +2 hours).

Kind Regards
Your Iberia Plus Service Center.

I assume booking an award and then refunding (IB or BA award) before Dec 1 would return the Avios, correct?

I was concerned as well but it was very clear in the terms that the bonus Avios would be awarded upon purchase of the flight.
There are tons of screenshots of tweets from the Iberia Spanish and English language accounts - see attached.
There is also this:
https://loyaltylobby.com/2018/06/22/...s-avios-promo/
Assuming that message did indeed come from Iberia (and I have no reason to believe it did not), they have committed to it in writing.
What worries me is the fact that they searched for "inconsistencies" and canceled accounts and/or refunded ticket.
We should know soon enough after the first rounds of missed flights.
I did look at the cost of changing the travel dates but it looks like Iberia might treat those as the cancellation of one booking and the creation of a new one. Cancellations void the promotional Avios.

I guess it either means double dealing has been detected (and they mangled the wording) or they meant to use the word "duplication" in the sense of not committing the transaction properly. They must be processing a huge number of problem cases, and they may have got things wrong, so you may need to make more enquiries of Iberia if you think all is OK on your side. The last sentence can only mean you're not getting the Avios as things stand.

Not my reading of the specific extra terms in the email sent when they award the bonus avios, my bolding:

3-Any purchases charged to Avios from this promotion (redemptions) may be exchanged and reissued, if applicable, up until December 1st 2018, as per the particular terms and conditions of the products purchased. Keep in mind that cancellation or refund requests made by the customer for tickets purchased during the promotion implies withdrawal or cancellation of the promotional Avios, regardless of the refund date.

Am I the only one who has problems signing in? Mrs. EX and I opened brand new accounts. Things were verified, they send each of us a new pin to sign in. Neither one didn't work and
returned error messages. Then one worked but after signing out and trying to sign in again it didn't. Tried the "forgot PIN' link, that one was blocked. Another browser would work. Once.
Then back to error messages. Only one that consistently works is the mobile site. Am I doing something wrong?

Two old accounts for myself and Mrs Rocket were both credited with 90K. Good job Iberia!^

Six new accounts for family members which have had passport information submitted, all denied! Bad job Iberia

They have offered refunds on the new accounts. I feel like pushing back but I don't have the patience for this. Am grateful for the 180K received.

Love/Hate Iberia!
