  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.

Please do a separate data point for each account. If you opened accounts for others (spouse, child, parent, etc), please make a separate entry for each account you opened. Please follow the formatting below so we have some consistency. USER: Your FT username
OWNER: SELF or WIFE/CHILD/MOM/DAD/etc. Owner of the account (i.e. the name on the account).
ACCT: NEW or OLD. New = created during promo period. Old = created prior to promo period.
YEAR: Optional. Year account opened.
DOCS?: DOCS or NO DOCS. Did you submit identity documentation to IB?
VERIFIED: VERIFIED or UNVERIFIED. Has IB actually verified the docs you submitted yet (via email confirmation)?
POSTED?: POSTED or NOT POSTED. Points posted to account?
# PTS: How many points have posted to the account so far?
MISSING: How many points (that were expected) did not actually post?
DENIAL REASON: If you've been denied or are in limbo, what was the reason stated? INCONSISTENCIES, REFUNDS, WAITING, etc.

We didnt just start sending it unprompted. People only started sending those docs because phone reps were instructing people to do so. We didnt suddenly convince them to do that. And then 2 or 2 days later, mass emails start going out. So we were definitely among the first in queue.

I received an email from Iberia activating my account followed by a new pin 6 days ago. They also mentioned the following:

Lastly, is it important to mention that we are still verifying all the information included in your bookings in order to confirm if you are eligible for crediting the corresponding Avios. We kindly ask you to wait a few more days.
I haven't received any other emails from them since. I have also emailed the executives yesterday but never heard back.

In this email, no mention of the 31st deadline. They just requested copy of identification. Sent another email in response with the unique reference number provided. Hope this works.

Have been peppering all avenues (execs, and no, don't PM me for the addresses - just google), the Clasico inbox, Twitter, etc. Finally got an email today saying I never sent them the documentation requested of me. I SENT IT THREE TIMES.

Oh boy, I hope they're ready to pay whatever fines could be issued in the name of GDPR for all three of those resubmits.

I'm guessing this will drag on until the 31st deadline hits and then we will be forced to request refunds. And just like that, they will be off the hook and will have managed to weasel their way out.

As for me, I was among the very first to send passport and booking confirmations for both my wife and I. I got the inconsistencies email while my wife has heard nothing. This is despite multiple emails to Clasica, tweets to Iberia, emails to executives, various calls, and any other way to poke and prod. They get to hide behind their inefficiency and we seemingly lose because of it.

Well, the 31st is just an artificial deadline set by them. I will disregard that completely if they fail to follow through. There is plenty of time to file a chargeback in the event of non performance by Iberia. In the US, you have 60 days past the statement date which the charges were on to file a Billing Error Notice and subsequent request for chargeback. I will not be requesting a refund.
