  • Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
  • Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
  • Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.
Iberia Plus offer 9000 per booking 21/JUN to 24/JUN on iberia.com
Terms and conditions of the offer are to be found here in post 14.

As for the GDPR, I can't speak for others. I may be a way of getting what information IB has beyond the information they have from the transaction and communications -- perhaps free discovery from the legal perspective. In reality, I believe if the data people realize they have a serious GDPR problem, IB might be more inclined to comply with their representations to avoid fighting on two fronts. I don't view it as harassment or an attempt to create an administrative burden but I'm not a fan of someone having a scan of my passport -- particularly a company that appears to have weak IT infrastructure since their website crashes regularly. If they can't keep a consumer facing revenue generating portion of their business functional, that suggests their security is even weaker.

Now ... as a US citizen/resident, do I have the right to request info on me maintained by a European company??? Hmmm.
of course it's your right.
And the penalties for breaching GDPR are HUGE for companies : GDPR fines (administrative fines) can go up to 20 million Euros or 4 percent of annual global (note global!) turnover, whichever of both is highest.

I'm pretty sure the situation is moving because of all the people who mentioned them the data privacy breach. And I don't agree with some posters here, we don't have influence but we have the power of the community and this counts (even for billions dollars companies). If we had said nothing and harassed Iberia I can tell you : they would have stoped sending miles to new accounts. Pretty sure about that. It's not about individuality it's about how many people are going the same way and show them that we are aware of the breaches and mistakes they did. It's a fair game. We got more power than before as consumers and it's for the good.

you kept mentioning the law. Iberia’s general T&C already has a catch all to allow them to deny avios due to improper use of an account. I doubt any consumer would win this case in court.

"The Programme reserves the right to recall your card, cancel your account and hold you responsible if you make improper or fraudulent use of the Programme or do not comply with the rules and procedures contained in these General Conditions."
"improper use of an account"? Really?
Flow was the following :
1. open an account
2. buy 10 tickets (I choose where I want to fly as I pay for the tickets).
3. enrolled in this promotion because of their T&C

This happens every single day in airlines, hotels, supermarkets and other business. Nothing weird here.

What is weird is that Iberia is stupid enough to think that this promotion will not go viral. If they wanted to keep it for "existing members only" they had to do as other does : sending targeted campaign and mention it in the T&C (as hotels does).

Sorry but I don't feel guilty of anything : a business advertise a promotion, I think it's a good deal, I run into this promotion and respect their T&C. Everything else is ......... There is no abuse or improper use of anything here. Period.

Hi, do you see your tickets in the "Manage your booking" session? I don't see any when I click there. But upon entering my last name and booking reference, the booking shows up and my IB Plus number is in there. I have an old account but have not received any avios.

it's one of the website bugs... you have to wait like 2 minutes and you will see them (the number indicated in the notification circle is not the right one... another bug).

I got an email saying that they have looked at my account and unlocked it, and that my tickets qualify. They told me that I would get my Avios when I send in a pdf with the booking confirmations, and that my 3 flights on the same day are incompatible, so I have to choose one and they will refund the remaining 2. Should be able to make 2 of them though, so I will give that a try.

Sent passport last Monday night, resent with tickets on Wednesday and have not heard anything at all before this morning.

Looks like it will work out in the end!

Worth adding to the wiki somehow.

Also, can I ask and can we have in the wiki the flight types - is this domestic Spanish one way flights?

3x MAD-PMI
7x SDR-MAD

So all domestic Spanish flights.

Dear Customer,

We confirm that we have correctly received your request in our Iberia Plus mailbox.

We apologize for not having been able to answer your request so far, as we have had a large number of inquiries over the last week.
We are doing our best efforts to answer all of them within the shortest delay.

Thank you fou your understanding. Please receive our warmest regards.
"
I received this yesterday too, so I'm quietly confident of getting the Avios.

My situation: New account set up late on the last day of the promo, with no surname issues. Booked 4 completely different one way flights that I could conceivably fly spread across 6 months. I ran out of time to book more! Sent in my passport scan and confirmations as requested. If I get the 36k, I'm planning on using them for intra-EU redemptions (long haul positioning, weekends away etc) where the cash fare is high i.e. LCY-FRA on a Friday night at Ł200 cash or 4,500 Avios.

I got mine in a few hours after emailing a bunch of people like someone else on this forum. I recommend no one should give up and settle for refund . Here is the page I found for iberia contacts:

booking 10 cheapest one way flights without any intention to fly can not be considered as improper use? People get blocked for way less things like booking a cheaper connecting ticket with no plans to fly the 2nd leg. My whole point is that the T&C of this promo isn’t as iron clad as some of you guys claim. If this were to play out in court, are you 100% confident that any reasonable person would side with you?

anyway, I had always suspected that Iberia was going to eventually credit some of the new users, but they just needed more time to review accounts. There’s possibly no way they could go through thousands of accounts in just a week or two on top of their regular workload.

I don’t understand people defending IB. They made the rules not us, and we had to follow what they said. They had opportunities to clarify them during the promotion, maybe change them or even end the promotion and did not.

They made the rules.
And not flying a second leg on a ticket is totally another topic than booking a ticket and no show.

and for your information, Iberia has lost 5 years ago regarding a no show policy, the Spanish court recognised that : "an airlines can't force a passenger to fly".

I agree with you... nobody forced Iberia to create this promotion and nobody will force us to fly the flights we have paid for... simple as that.
