- Login problems: If you have trouble logging into the Iberia website, type in your number and password by hand instead of using autocomplete. For some people this fixes login issues.
- Partner awards: Many flights on partners will not be available as one-way. You must redeem AA flights as a round trip for example
- Cancellations: Iberia awards on AA cannot be cancelled.

Everything is just so odd here.. So I have received an email from Iberia saying that they would need an extra few days to review the documentation I sent, however they supplied me with a new Pin and unlocked my account. I can search flights and book them (although I ave no Avios) just fine. Before that I got that message saying to call their support.

Which would fit well with my theory that they are trying to impose restrictions on redemptions. That actually sounds quite positive, if they don’t want to award any additional Avios, why bother with locking accounts?

Account was locked around July 1st, but reset via the app a couple of days later and have had access since. Got the email asking for passport + tickets on July 4th. Replied with all attachments requested on July 5th. Followed up on July 8th because I hadn't heard anything yet. Later that day, got the "Correct Email Reception" auto-reply, assuming to the follow up (didn't get it for the original email). Reached out on Twitter to both the @iberia and @iberia_en accounts yesterday, July 9th. Nothing yet, and no Avios posted. New account. Followed all T&Cs to the letter. Just filed ten DOT complaints, one for each flight booked. We'll see.

I've had an IB account open since 2007 (11 years), but it turns out it had gone in to dormant/inactive status though as I haven't credited anything to it in over three years.
I booked 10 flights during the promotion without thinking there would be any problem...
Then after the promotion I tried to combine my Avios from BAEC in to Iberia, so I had enough points for a return business class redemption (needed to add 35,000 avios), which didn't work. After hours of investigating, this is where i worked out that my IB account was dormant, which is why you can't use combine my avios. Anyway, I managed to get the account active again (by sending 1000 points from Amex).
Now I'm still waiting for my 90,000 bonus avios to arrive. I've emailed clasica.at.iberia.es, got an automated response immediately, but I still haven't heard back from them... No requests for passport or anything else.
The flights I booked were all one ways from Asturias to Madrid. Some booked close together, others not...
Hoping my points post soon.

I mostly agree however, the whole entire point of requesting our information should be to rule us out as people making fake accounts. I did everything by the book so there is no inconsistency. Why request our information if you are just going to deny us the avios anyways?
I don't really understand why people (including bloggers) are grouping together the 'people making accounts for their dog and imaginary friend' with those who simply opened new accounts and booked the cheapest flights available. One group is definitely abusing the terms of the terms of the promo, the other is following the rules as advised by Iberia. And even if you feel that booking one way domestic flights was abuse, then you should at least I hope agree that Iberia have not dealt with this well.
I'm not super mad about this, and I understand the issues from Iberia's side. I don't intend to take legal action and get that you win some, you lose some... but Iberia have done wrong here and it's been a disappointment to me and others, so sympathy is something I'd hope for. I get the impression that existing account holders who got their avios seem to be categorizing those who opened new accounts with domestic flights with those who signed up their dog which just doesn't seem fair.
Might I add that many travel blogs have stressed the importance of having an IB+ account on standby for their regular promotions (ie. the Avis one some time back, or their regular Groupon sales), so perhaps moving forward it would be wise to prepare for any more in future.

I was told that it will take a few days once the points post / account has been unlocked to book partner awards online - the agent said I should be able to book online tomorrow. In the meantime, the agent put my domestic AA award ticket on hold as the system wasn't able to process the amount of avios required. Hopefully it works tomorrow.

As it seems that you are one of the first with new accounts that received no cancellation and in contrary the avios could you please provide some further details:
- Have you been requested to provide passport copies and did you?
- If so when?
- How did you get the information of unlocking the account?
- How did you get aware that the avios have been posted?
- What was the time between unlocking the account and getting the avios?
- What country is your account registered to?
- In no. 1588 you stated you received the "incosistencies" email. Did you get the avios regardless of this for the same account or for another one?

Its probably worth waiting until you receive the "inconsistency" email but from there have you considered contacting your local provincial consumer affairs office: hXXps://ic.gc.ca/eic/site/oca-bc.nsf/eng/ca02965.html (replace XX with t)?
I'm not a lawyer but it looks like breach of contract which I'm sure any American victim will highlight to Iberia in the Courts.
