Good to know, Yllanes, that you left without problem. Hope you can report again on your returning via T4S. Have a good trip!

Sounds like I'm going thru MAD at the worst time. Arriving on AA MIA-MAD at 9:55am, then I assume will have to transfer from 4s to 4 to catch my IB MAD-LIS flight at 11:35am. Hopefully 1:40 hours will be sufficient.

Arrivals aren't half as bad, especially at that time. You should be more than fine.

The problem is LEAVING the Schengen area. Arrivals aren't so bad lately. It used to be you would never even have to wait 5 minutes, but now it's a bit more. But if you have a connection like that, they will send you through the fast connection line (just ask at the desk before going to the immigration area) and it will be quick.

The longest part is likely to be just walking to the immigration area and then taking the train from T4S to T4

I think you are talking about Arrivals and this thread is talking about departures.

If you have lounge access, I'd say you're best getting there between 9 and 9:30 and just enjoying a late breakfast in the newly opened lounge.

Don't have lounge access. What time would you suggest for 12pm AA flight?

Just went through around 1400 and there was a lot of tensa barriers and a few people in line, but overall generally organized with a less than 10 minute wait.

Uh oh. I connect r
through Madrid tomorrow, VCE MAD in IB fkight, then MAD ORD on IB. The connection is 1 hour. Will we make it? Tix are awards booked by Aa. If we miss the ORD flight, who will rebook us, AA or IB?

It will be tight, as the ORD flight departs towards the beginning of the busy departure bank. I believe there is a fast connections queue, you might have to ask the queue manager.

IB will handle any issues. They have a desk after immigration in the R and U areas.

With transfers at MAD such a mess it seems odd that IB would schedule flights with such short connection times. I will hope that if we are delayed IB will SE us in transit and will hold the ORD flight departure for a few minutes.

Honestly it's pretty rare for a TATL to not leave a few minutes late, but the system just sees the minimum connection time which is not a very flexible measure.
