Booked illegal connection on Iberia.com?
Hi,
I booked a flight from Malaga to Rio de Janeiro via Madrid on the iberia.com website but the connection time in Madrid from T4 to T4S is only 60 minutes. Looking at the iberia website, the minimum connection time is 65 minutes. As it's only a 5 minute difference then I guess I should be able to make it (if the AGP-MAD flight is on time anyway) - especially if the OneWorld Express Connections service at MAD works as well as it seems to. But what happens if I don't? Do I lose any rights like free overnight accommodation/meals or EU261 compensation because of this "illegal connection" - or does the fact that the Iberia booking engine suggested this connection remove the blame from me? Thanks. |
I believe they just lowered the MCT recently. Either way, if it's one booking they have to protect you.

My main concern was due to flight frequency - if I missed it then the next one isn't for 24 hours. Though since then I've realised TAM have an overnight flight which would still delay me by 12 hours or so, but it wouldn't be that big a deal. Either way, several hundred euros in compensation would have made me more than happy considering the flights were dirt cheap anyway! |
