Not enough time in either case.

If you arrive on time, then you would be able to make it if travelling hand baggage only. Perhaps you could sustain a delayed arrival until 20:45 or so.

If you're checking bags, forget it.

Thank you for the advice. I will stay near the airport and fly in the early morning.

Yesterday I was able to put OMA-ORD-MAD AA award J seats on a 5 day hold, we want to fly to FCO. I checked MAD-FCO and every day was available through March 28, we arrive April 1 - so I thought I would see March 29 available today but it wasn’t. I have until May 12 to add this last leg does anyone know when IB will post seats?

The Iberia calendar opens up 361 days before the flight. If there are no seats, chances are they've been snapped up by someone already.

The last clickable date that I get now, considering it to be May 9 in Spain, is April 2, which my calculator shows as 329 days away.

The last weekend in March is when summer (daylight saving) time takes effect in Europe, and is typically a time of airline schedule changes. I'd say that IB hasn't set that new schedule yet.

That cutoff would be 28 March. The calendar on iberia.com is currently showing as 3 April (i.e. one day more than your post) for Avios tickets and 3 May for cash tickets, on my side.

Going on the U.S. site, it was still late on May 8 when I posted, so that may have changed after midnight here. As of now, MAD-FCO (or ROM as they want it) stops showing after March 28. I find JFK-MAD and MAD-LHR until April 2.

On AA’s site it still stops at March 28, I have until this Saturday at midnight to add April 1 MAD-FCO to my award reservation.
I’ll check it each day, I guess I don’t understand why IB doesn’t just add a day at midnight like AA does?

Actually the only MAD-LON flights that show at this writing for early April are MAD-LGW on IB Express. I think no mainline IB intra-Europe is showing after the spring 2020 schedule change.

There's been talk about it on other threads, but MAD-FCO flights are showing for April 2020 now.

Does Iberia release any more award seats in J after the initial 2 are taken? Looking at MAD-RIO and it seems most they have are 2 per flight.

Never say never, but IME no. Also, I believe MAD-GIG is still operated by a 332, which only has 19 seats in J. So, quite unlikely I'd say.

I booked a "Basic Economy" ticket on IB ORD-MAD-GVA, with the first leg supposedly on an A350-900. The booking code is N and the ticket stock is 075.

Expedia says "Pay to choose your seat" (normally I book direct, but it was $400 cheaper on Expedia than the IB website so I made an exception).

On the Iberia website when I manage by booking, there is a link to "Why not choose your seat now? You’ll feel like you’re at home. Get in early and book the best seat. Early seat booking ->", but when I click it shows all my flight segments as "This flight does not permit seat selection".

I also tried the BA website (my return is on BA). It wants me to click through to ibera.com to select my seats on the IB segments. Makes sense. I click through and it shows me a similar page, but it shows me having already been assigned seats on my two IB legs (39D, 28D) but no link to change them or see a seatmap or anything. And then for the two BA flights it says "This flight does not permit seat selection" (that part makes sense, at least).

Is it possible to select a seat for a fee on the IB flights? How?

I'd just try calling. Sorry I don't have much experience with basic economy without status.
