Iberia: need to show credit card at check in?

Iberia sent me a flight reminder for LHR-MAD, stating prominently:

The card used for payment must be presented at check-in on the day of travel. Not complying with this rule may mean that you are not admitted on the flight.
It was paid with American Express. Anyone know whether this is usual?

It's usual for all Spanish carriers. There is a high instance of fraud with foreign credit cards here, so this is a requirement.
