Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.
Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.
Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.
Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.
Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.
Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.
.................................................. ..........
If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.
If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

Thanks for the info so it seem similar to the same strategy for SPG BRG's. A little more hassle to call since I live outside the U.S. but at least it should be faster to confirm BRG and less chance the rate will disappear by the time they can confirm it.
So I guess best to try and negotiate a refundable rate with the agent while on the phone?

Hi all,
I am looking into booking the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort for 10 nights starting May 26th.
Used hotelscombined.com to look for the cheapest rate, hotelclub.com gives best rate, am I able to claim BRG with them?
I did use the search function, but couldn't find an answer.

So here is my 2 cents after submitting my first 3 BRG's with Hyatt compared to my experience with SPG BRG's.
I like the ability to confirm the BRG on the phone but for me it is a pain in the A$$ since I live overseas and I call over a sucky internet line. This is my own fault and not Hyatt but wish they gave you the option to submit via the web or over the phone as I was dropped three times and had to call back.
The only rate which they didn't approve has me confused. They claimed they could not approve it since there was an advance purchase rate which was at the same price. However, I can not get the advance purchase rate to show up on Hyatt.com. The only rates that show up are the daily rate, a breakfast rate, a suite dreams rate and a grand weekend rate. I'm going to try and call back in a couple hours once my bandwidth picks back up but am I fighting a losing battle on this one? If the rate is not on the Hyatt website then how can they use that rate to compare my BRG to, do the agents use the hyatt site or hyatt reservation system when determining Hyatt's lowest rate?

I guess just like everything else in the travel industry, if someone tells you no and you think it should be a yes just try again later with a different agent.
I'm now 3 for 3 and have 8 of 12 nights for my wife's diamond challenged booked on BRG's.

Well, after 44 minutes, got my BRG done for the PH Siem Reap for 4 nights.
Best rates on Hyatt.com (per night)
$280 HDR (~$1350 for 4 nights including taxes)
$224 Stay 3 Pay 2 (~$810 for 4 nights including taxes)
Competing rate was ~$720 including tax for the 4 nights. After having to manually back out the taxes, it works out to ~$145/night. BRG rate = $116/night (~$559 including taxes for the 4 nights). Diamond suite upgrade in the process of being applied by the same agent. Competing rate was non-refundable, so BRG is non-refundable.
However, it really pays to do your math ahead of time. Initially agent came back with the right number for an after tax BRG rate, but then used it as pre-tax and tried to apply the tax back onto it again. Hence the manual calculation to back out the taxes.

They never get the tax included rates right the first time, even when I make sure to point it out in advance. Almost makes me think that it's deliberate...

So get this.... I called yesterday for a BRG. The competing site had a standard room but Hyatt only had club rooms so they denied it since they didn't have any standard rooms. Today all of a sudden they now have standard rooms but the rate is matching the competing website.

Hyatt canberra hotel :

AA: $210.79

Needed four rooms so for some reasons unknown the agent had to go back again and verify I can get four rooms. Nice hotel this one !
