Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

.................................................. ..........

Recent Experiences Using the BRG (2018 and later)

YES
  • Hotels.com - April 2019
  • Booking.com - May 2019

MAYBE
  • Skoosh - April 2019 (initially rejected as "membership site" but approved on appeal)
NO
  • SnapTravel
.................................................. ..........

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.

Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.

Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.

Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.

Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.

Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.

.................................................. ..........

If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.

If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

Exactly.... the same for me. Although the rate I got at Hyatt.com wasn't bad, it kinda annoys me that I can find an even lower rate on a third party website (that even includes breakfast) and they won't match.

Just found a new site with excellent rates that seems to be not 'fenced off' by Hyatt's 'membership rules'.

Hyatt Regency Monterey, CA

hyatt.com Prepaid $223
other site $123 (free cancellation)

new rate $98.4 plus I can use my suite upgrade. While this is not an aspirational property the suites overlooking the golf course are very neat and it's a very kid friendly property.

These things make me love Hyatt

And you are just gloating, or are you willing to share your "other site"?

The Marriott LNG and Priority Club BRG thread have adopted a policy to not share BRG sites publicly as anecdotal evidence suggests that they get blacklisted and/or rate is changing very quickly. We should maybe do the same here before Hyatt kicks them all out?

PM me anytime.

By doing that the reason for such a thread is diminishing rather quickly. I'm not so much interested in the personal achievements with the BRG as well as the hotels and the 3rd party sites that have been successfully used.

Just quoting rates (even without dates) isn't really helpful in my opinion. We could then just as well have a poll to establish at which hotels a successful/unsuccessful BRG was claimed.

Hyatt's BRG has been improving quite a bit this year (I had mentioned the issue to Jeff Zidell).

I really don't see them "blacklisting" sites but I'm sure they are monitoring their system for changing the rates quickly (I'm sure they have a procedure setup to review rates when a BRG (maybe even a rejected claim) is approved).

From my perspective, I don't see a problem with naming sites in this thread.

I agree. The websites I gave them were Asiatravel.com, Travelrepublic.co.uk, and Hoteltravel.com.

Hyatt was EUR 170, taking into account a free night based on a one week stay 146. The competing sites were between EUR 127 and 133 per night, needless to say the 20% off would have been a nice deal.

According to Hyatt none of these sites is eligible, though as far as I am concerned they work perfectly fine, and there is no impact from taxes or booking fees. The only real difference is that their (already cheaper) rates include breakfast whereas the Hyatt rates do not (which doesn't matter for me being Diamond). At SPG the BRG has worked very well several times for me, this has been my first try with Hyatt, so not sure how this is supposed to make clients happy if they play it this way...

Exactly the same for me.... still annoyed and thinking about cancelling or booking through the 3rd party website (€25 cheaper for 3 nights and including breakfast).

Update, I found some more websites with cheaper rates, and it appears Emirates.com would have been honoured...if I hadn't in the meantime redeemed a suite upg certificate for the reservation in question. Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but I was told that on BRG reservations you can not redeem a suite upgrade.

That would be blatantly wrong. I have redeemed a suite upgrade on a BRG reservation and have another that is already booked with suite upgrade applied.

What may be impossible is to BRG a reservation that ALREADY has a suite upgrade attached (but I think I have done that as well). If it is, and it is not a prepaid rate, just have them book a new reservation with the BRG and then work to have the suite upgrade transferred to the new reservation and then cancel the old (higher rate) reservation.

The only true problem I have run into is trying to BRG a reservation that has already been BRG'ed. They can't do that, so once again, book another reservation and cancel the old one.

If you have an existing (non-prepaid) reservation with a confirmed Suite Upgrade and you call in for a BRG which Hyatt choses to honor. Only the Rate should be adjusted downward. Your Suite Upgrade should stay the same.
If Hyatt cancels your entire reservation and starts a new one, they will have to call in again for your suite upgrade and it may no longer be available.

Hyatt - Best Rate Guarantee - Experiences - MASTER THREAD

That is exactly what I wanted to do but neither the BRG line nor the hotel were willing. For me the comparison would be on the original reservation, but they were mixing this together. I have sent a PM to GP Concierge...

No reply from GP concierge, so I will have to assume that BRG and suite upg can indeed not be combined (as that's what I've been told over the phone by both the BRG rep as well as by the hotel). Or maybe it's applied in a wheel-of-fortune type of way. In any case my conclusion here is that Hyatt does not care about my business and/or the BRG simply does not seem to work in a consistent way.
