Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

.................................................. ..........

Recent Experiences Using the BRG (2018 and later)

YES
  • Hotels.com - April 2019
  • Booking.com - May 2019

MAYBE
  • Skoosh - April 2019 (initially rejected as "membership site" but approved on appeal)
NO
  • SnapTravel
.................................................. ..........

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.

Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.

Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.

Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.

Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.

Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.

.................................................. ..........

If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.

If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

4 out of 5 approved...though 2 of them didn't tell me what hotel, dates, or price (a 3rd didn't say price), none of them gave me the new price, and one of them showed glaring parts of a template
unfortunately I messed up dates on my flights so I'll have to redo some of these

After going through with a few more of these, everything was done within 24 hours (typically before noon the following day). All of the best rate guarantees worked in my favor when expected, and when they didn't I understood why.
One didn't because Agoda was charging the same Yen rate for park hyatt, although their USD was using a better conversion than everyone else, and another failed because the room dropped from inventory after I had submitted it. I learned from this one however and when it came back into inventory later in the day, I booked it to make sure it held and that I could submit a BRG again. That worked without issue. I even had an agent confirm a BRG based on a room type they didn't have available (the agent must have read it wrong)

Based on this, and covering about 5-6 different agents across my claims, I do not believe they are actively plotting to deny claims. It is still disappointing that they don't allow claims using some sites, and I'm sure Shelly B is probably not the best agent. If you run into an issue, just resubmit the claim.

I got my first BRG yesterday! It's not for a lot but it's definitely worth it. I convinced my BF to stay at a Hyatt for an upcoming wedding so that I could work towards Diamond. The Hyatt though was about $30/night more than other comparable hotels so he was going to make me pay all that by myself. I put in 2 requests yesterday (though I think one had errors and was for a hotel listed here as not working.) The request doesn't say which was approved and the math doesn't work out as I thought but it still was in my favor.

If I have to guess, I'd say it was the BRG to Amoma.com. The other was against HotelTravel.com and I was only trying to match 2 days. But who knows or cares. I'll take it!

Haven't really had any problems with the BRG process, at least nothing new since we had to email (which is a pain).

Had a great BRG in Phuket (mistake in my favour) and got another one for Siem Reap yesterday to $113/night - competing site was Booking.com for the first time. Yet another for GH Bangkok, GH Doha, not sure what else in the past month or so.

If you do a lot of BRGs and generally in the same markets, you learn which sites are accepted, which hotels tend to have BRGs available and what a good rate is so you accept it though Hyatt.com.

Go on hyatt.com and look at the room rate at the same time.

I can't say for sure but I am aware rooms at this hotel typically around $1,000

Yes! I would take that rate at the Park Hyatt Maldives any day! With an award night costing 30,000 HGP points, which I'm guessing is quite a common way for FTers to visit the property, you're getting an excellent value from my perspective.

A few weeks ago, I had a Hyatt BRG approved.
Hotel: Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Club Room (!)
Hyatt.com rate: US$118
Agoda.com rate: US$84
BRG approved for about US$65 for 4 nights in Club Room. Good reviews of hotel on Trip Advisor. Looking forward to the stay!
**Interestingly, I submitted the claim without a matching Hyatt reservation. I got the approval, saying that I needed to make a booking in the next 24 hours, and then call the BRG desk and have the rate attached to the booking.
Quite amazing, actually, and I'm very happy.

Hot.es

Does anyone have experience with a BRG for hot.es, especially if it was approved or not?

I got a claim matched today through TripAdvisor.com. Even though it's done on tripadvisor.com, it states that the payment is through hotelsclick.com

I see above that someone else was approved for that website so it may be worth adding to the wiki now.

I hope it's not during the latter part of Ramadan. The club is a zoo with kids running about.

shouldn't be to bad. It is the Eid holidays that seemed crazy.

YOu will have to ask for pork (bacon) as they don't provide it openly.
