Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Grand Hyatt San Francisco

At check-in they told me we had an additional upgrade from an Executive Suite to a Luxury Suite, but room 3307 looked just the same size as as an Executive Suite (the size of two regular rooms). Very nice, however, with a completely separate bedroom. The old Executive Suites (before the remodel) had 2 bathrooms; in this suite we had only one bathroom and the bathroom in the living room has been replaced with an alcove with a desk, wetbar, and refrigerator.

The remodel of this hotel is definitely one of the nicest that Hyatt has done.

Had plenty of upgrade certificates to burn, needed one more stay to make Diamond, and had nothing better to do so stayed Thanksgiving for one night.

Received a standard connector suite on 1st floor looking at some trees. Nice large flat screen TVs in both rooms. Good sized coffee table plus round meeting/eating table with seating for 3 in 'parlor' section. Bathrooms large but different in the two rooms. Bedroom had standard tub; 'parlor' had fully tiled walk-in shower filling one end. Nice design but water pressure and temperature control both poor; made comment at checkout. HVAC units in both rooms are loud and have goofy motion sensors that partially override the 'off' setting so you hear them start and then immediately stop a lot unless you set them manually to always blow at low speed, or happen to have some opaque tape to cover the motion sensor (we didn't).

Having double the space was nice, the round table was a good touch, the differing showers would have been very good with better plumbing. Overall, considering the plumbing and the HVAC, I'll give it a B-. Acceptable but no reason to do this again.

1. Grand Hyatt New York
2. Junior Suite (2 Double beds)
3. It was nice to have the extra space as I was traveling with the family and the hotel was able to get a suite with 2 double beds. Diamond line didn't show any suites available at the hotel, but upon check-in the agent was able to confirm a suite
4. B - Although it was nice to have the extra space but the suite itself was pretty pale compared to suite upgrades at other properties. Just a basic L shape room in which the suite area was very small

Upgrade Certificate Re-Deposit

Sorry if this has been asked already. Anyone know if you cancel an upcoming reservation that you used a suite upgrade for do they redeposit automatically in your account or do you have to call and ask?

My own experience has been that I have to call to get it back, but it is possible I have just had bad luck.

Sorry for the delayed response. That is not my experience. I got the four upgrade vouchers as soon as I hit fifty nights. Wondering if I will get four more in February?

1. Hyatt Regency Indianapolis
2. Governors Suite
3. Very nice suite, maybe 800-1000 sq ft. Two full bathrooms, tv in bathroom mirror. Apple computer, DVD player, wine frig, 3 tv's, dining table for 6-8, marble foyer. Would definitely stay here again. Great location for downtown Indy. Lounge closed on weekend, but free breakfast in restaurant.

1. Hyatt Olive 8 -- Seattle
2. Presidential Suite: http://olive8.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels...cale=&start=11
3. 1600 Sq Ft
4. 1 Bedroom and 1.5 Bathrooms
5. Yes. A+++
6. It's the Presidential Suite at the Hyatt Olive 8!

How did I get it? Confirmed a suite upgrade a couple of nights in advance, but upon checking in, the front desk didn't have any normal suites left... so they happily gave me this instead.

1. Hyatt Regency The Churchill, London
2. Regency Suite King
3. 53 sqm
4. 1 Bedroom and 1 Bathroom, 1 living room
5. B-

The suite I got was a part of the Presidential Suite, no balcony, and smaller than the announced 53 sqm, I would say rather 40-45sqm.

That's disappointing to hear that it is so small, as we have 9 nights (2 upgrades) in this type in April. I'm still wondering whether to request one with a balcony or one of the semi-open suites on the 7th floor. 40-45 sqm is likely to feel quite cramped when divided into 2 distinct rooms.

1. Hyatt Regency Osaka
2. Club Deluxe Twin
3. 80 sqm
4. Junior suite with combined bedroom and living/dining area, 1 bathroom
5. B+

Offered this downgrade because no suite availability at time of reservation (hotel was honest in offering this as a 'downgrade' without trying to pawn it off as a real suite). Not a bad option, because it is a corner room with interesting wrap-aound view and the bathroom is even better than that in the suite, with an exceptional walk-in shower. But will not serve if you need a separate room for children, etc.

From a long time ago...

Asked but didn't get on that stay - but have returned twice since with 2 x mini-Macs, and asked, and been given the proper exec suite both times. Indeed just before Xmas used another upgrade, would have been happy with the junior suite so didn't ask, and got the proper exec anyway!

Hotel in need of the refurb that it's going to get, but I like it.
