Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

As to granting them earlier, I think it would be hard to track, given Hyatt tech and you'd still be faced with the same problem long run.
The feeling that I get from reading posts here is that most people have a hard time using the four yearly suite upgrades that they get already (leading to the rush of forward bookings towards the cert expiration in February), so giving people access to the next year's upgrades more quickly doesn't seem like it will give people a competitive advantage towards locking up suites.

I have had no problems in redeeming or "locking up" suite upgrades. My problem with the suite upgrades is not redemption or availability- it's a question of whether or not Hyatt has commented on issuing more diamond suite upgrades for members nearing 75-100+ nights in a calendar year. Obviously, one would have much more need for these confirmed suite upgrades with more and more nights at Hyatt.

What are other FT-ers redemption rates (i.e. how often you get to redeem vs how often you try)?

Also, I suppose 4 certs x 7 nights = 28 nights is small for someone that spends 100+ nights.

If that were the case, I suggest IC RA.

And since most people hardly stay 7 nights in a row most won't be able to get 28 suite nights out of 4 certificates..... But don't forget, you can also upgrade with points.

I do not see it to be honest.

There are some complaints every once in a while that John Smith was not able to use a cert during a major event in town or that the upgrade only resulted in a 700 sqm. suite, but aside from that hundreds of poster are making good use of them...

Exactly.

IIRC, I never had a stay of more than 6 nights in a row.

I use the cert. or points for stays between 2-4 days.

I used quite some paper vouchers for shorter stays in the past as well

Super Upgrade

1. Maui
2. Presidential Suite
3. Huge
4. 2BR, 2.5 Baths
5. A+

I had requested a suite upgrade for the 3 night stay and arrived lat-ish (7:30pm) for check-in. All other available suites had been given out, so the pleasant agent commented that I had a "special" upgrade. I asked if it were to a broom closet, and she answered, "No, to the Presidential Suite!"

I didn't even know there was such a thing at the Hyatt Kaanapali. It was quite spectacular - a space looking for a party to host, but sadly I was alone on business and ended up using the master bedroom and bath almost exclusively (and notified housekeeping so they wouldn't re-clean things that weren't dirty.) In addition to the Master bedroom (with a 2 winged adjacent bath areas - one side with Jacuzzi tub, other with shower) - each side with a separate toilet - there was also a small sauna, a subordinate bedroom (also with big flatscreen,) a computer area, 2 living / sitting areas with DVD, big flat screen, a dinner table and a smaller 4 seater "high" breakfast/cocktails table, a Sonus (?) zoned music system to which one could attach one's own iPod, and a kitchenette with full refrigerator, combo-microwave-convection oven and full dinnerware/glassware/cooking stuff. Wall-to-wall glass looking out to sea, with a set of large (~15x60) binoculars. Really far more than I needed, but great fun. If only 8 or 10 friends had been along....

Post hyatt regency saipan

1. Hyatt Regency Saipan
2. Regency Executive Suite
3. Just enough bed for two but I think this could probably sleep closer to 4-5 adults. Booked least expensive room and got the second best suite in the house.
4. U-shaped design. 2 bath (that's a bath tub, separate shower, & two toilets)
5. A-

This is a nice little Hyatt. I'll just go with the positive side of my stay because I want to see more people go to this Hyatt Regency and I like ALL the people there.

Pros:

Balcony space is unreal, goes around the corner of the regency building and has about 3 - 4 beach chairs. None of the food things here were specifically identified as my Diamond amenity, they were just placed in the room. I threw in a shot of the regency lounge patio food. I had more than one san miguel . I did not include a picture of the ice box with some alcoholic drinks. Room service in the morning came with a complimentary (diamond) pot of hot coffee. Just be sure this is on your door before you sleep. Yoga mat was also in the closet/yoga dvds/dvd player/ flat screen and two comfy bath robes. Playground is also brand new for the kids and there's a grotto for the regency guests only. The soaking tub is a jacuzzi type, learned about this by accident.

Here's a slide show of my stay:

Enjoy!

I think a lot of the people who have difficulty using the suite upgrades are trying to make last minute upgrades at hotels that have only one or two suites available in the upgrade category. Then they keep doing the same thing at the same hotels, and end up never being able to use the upgrades.

It can also be a bit of a Catch 22. A single traveler gets the Presidential suite at one hotel, while at another hotel a family of 4 gets a junior suite equivalent to a large room.

At the Hyatt Olve 8 in Seattle, booked two rooms and used suite upgrade on both

Received a Luxury King suite, 15th floor with very good views and Presidential suite on the top floor.

Here's a scenario...

Five night stay and suite is available to upgrade to for every night except the "middle" night. I offered to change to a standard room in between, but the property insists I would need to use two certs in this case... since the nights in the suite are not consecutive, even though the original reservation is for consecutive nights.

T&Cs
A complimentary suite upgrade is valid on paid nights when paying an Eligible Rate, for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights, at participating Hyatt hotels where suite accommodations are available
To me, the T&Cs seem to indicate the your original stay has to be consecutive... not so much suite availability.

Any opinions/experience on this one?

Hyatt T&C, as well as almost all their communications, are very often vague, misleading, or even obviously grammatically incorrect. However, if one were to assume that the punctuation in this section is correct, the use of the commas to offset "for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights" would seem to connect the prepositional phrase to "valid", meaning it should be read "suite upgrade is valid ... for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights".

Still, really surprised that the hotel is not willing to do this for you.

Thanks for the breakdown... I am quite surprised too. This kind of stinginess is enough to have me looking elsewhere.

You could always book it and see if the middle night opens up, while at the same time also booking a cancellable res elsewhere. Unless of course you're looking at a stay after the certs expire on 28 Feb.

I assume you have contacted the property directly rather than just using a res center as a go-between. Sometimes, although certainly not always, the hotel is more flexible when contacted directly.
