Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Andaz NYC

Spent a few days at the NYC Andaz hotels recently. As many have already said here, the Andaz 5 ave is one of the best Hyatt offerings in NYC but it can be expensive, so using a DSU is great value here. Andaz Wall St is nice, but a notch below on most points, but there are great deals to be had, especially on the weekends.

1. Andaz 5th Ave, Midtown/New York City
2. Andaz Splash Suite
3. 787-square-foot / 73-square-meter / 12 foot ceilings
4. 1 Bedroom, 1 tub room, 1 bathroom (double vanity, rain shower, foot bath, huge soaking tub outside). Layout a bit strange - "railroad style" with bathroom/tub room separating bedroom and living area.
5. Great upgrade, corner suite
6. Convenient midtown location on 5th Ave across from the Library/Bryant Park and a few blocks from Grand Central Station. Excellent $75/room breakfast benefit including room service. Good value for use of a DSU.

---------------------

1. Andaz Wall St, Financial District/New York City
2. Andaz Suite
3. 610 sq ft / 57 sq meters / 12 foot ceilings
4. 0 Bedrooms (lg studio) and 1 oversized bathroom with soaking tub
5. Was not impressed with this upgrade. No door separating sleeping area from living area and it seems Diamonds often get upgraded to this room without use of a DSU. Host did mention was one of few suites with soaking tub however. Would request further upgrade Andaz Suite XL or Buttonwood if possible.
6. Staff was not as courteous, attentive or helpful as Andaz 5 Ave. Breakfast was pretty sparse. Downtown location is close to alot of public transportation, and a fairly quick walk to Financial District, South St Seaport, Brooklyn Bridge, Freedom Tower, Battery Park, Tribeca. Chinatown/Little Italy/Soho a few minutes further.

San Diego - Grand Hyatt Manchester

1. San Diego - Grand Hyatt Manchester, downtown San Diego
2. Signature Suite: http://manchestergrand.hyatt.com/en/...oms/suite.html
3. Bedroom is 340 sq ft, Suite area is 780 sq ft
4. 1 Main bedroom with 1.5 bathroom, Suite room is adjoining room with L shaped sofa (includes a sofa sleeper). Adjoining suite room has a separate bathroom as well (1.5). Adjoining suite also has a kitchen area with sink and small fridge/freezer. Large 8' conference table and TV viewing area. Very large space.
5. I would rate this a B. Its very large and great to have the extra space but the suite was on the 9th floor Harbor tower and getting to the RC required going down to lobby, changing elevators and going to 33rd floor, kind of a hassle.

1. Andaz West Hollywood, LA
2. Andaz King Corner Suite: http://westhollywood.andaz.hyatt.com...oms/suite.html
3. 800 sq ft
4. 1 bedroom, 1 large living room with enclosed balcony and 2 full bathrooms
5. Nice upgrade, the room has been recently renovated and generally looked impressive
6. We were allocated a lovely corner suite at 9th floor with views over Sunset blvd and the city. Breakfast was great, we could use both a buffet and order a la carte, all charges were waived at the check out, no room service option though.

Hotel du Louvre - 5 nights using DSU

1. Hotel du Louvre - Paris
2. 1st floor Suite King : http://parishoteldulouvre.hyatt.com/...oms/suite.html
3. Approx. 400 sq ft
4. 1 Bedroom with King bed and full bathroom. Additional half bathroom at main entrance to suite room.
5. Very happy with the upgrade. Two separate French doors leading to small balcony overlooking Palais-Royal open square space. Great view of the Paris marathon running right by on Rue de Rivoli. B+
6. Great location with metro stop right next to the hotel. Louvre museum and many other attractions right next door. Great access to city bus stops and hop on/off bus tours.

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino

Spent 5 nights at the Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino. 4 nights on P&C, 1 free Chase CC night. DSU applied and we were confirmed into the Family Suite on the 8th floor. We were offered further upgrade into the Cayena Suite for 2 nights, but on a lower floor overlooking the water slide so we passed. No problem keeping the suites for the free night even though they were pretty much at full capacity.

1. Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino/Palm Beach, Aruba
2. Family Suite
3. 700-square-ft
4. Spacious 1 bedroom with 42" LCD, sitting and desk area, living area with pullout couch and 50" lcd, wet bar, 1 bathroom (single vanity, large walk in rain shower), standing balcony overlooking pools/beach
5. Good upgrade, corner suite on 8th floor below regency club level by elevators (*46 line)- no noise issues from club above or elevators, but band/bar noise from lobby area could be an issue on the weekends. Family suite on the other side of the elevators more quiet (*07 line) - but limited property view and no sunset view.
6. Convenient location-walking distance to malls/shopping/restaurants. Good value for use of a DSU.

Hyatt Regency Phoenix, one night in March

We were confirmed into a Studio, but got a further upgrade into a large suite (~900 sq ft?)

1. Hyatt Regency Phoenix
2. No idea what it's called, but looked like the VIP suite, but not on the top floor (4th floor)
3. Approx 900 sq ft
Spacious 1 bedroom with large living area, including wet bar, sofa area, and even a meeting area with a table and 4 chairs. You probably could have done like 4 somersaults across the living area.
4. Good upgrade. A- No views, but always better than the junior suites. They also stocked the full-sized fridge with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages.

Had my first negative experience with the DSU last week at the HR Tokyo. I had called Hyatt before leaving the states as I noticed the DSU hadn't been pulled from my account. She said there was a processing error, but ensured me it would be taken care of. Of course when I arrived at the hotel, they had no record of the request, and had no suites available. What compensation would you think would be fair (If any?). I was thinking about asking for 20k points--enough for 1 night in a suite at a Cat 3 property. (My stay was two nights).

Thx for your input!

I only get Grand Suite on lower half floors today (higher floor requested in reservation comments).
So I personally prefer not to use DSU since there is no Taipei 101 view and the city view is limited due to lower floor.

Before you left, did you verify the room type in your reservation? Did it show suite?

Hyatt Regency Tokyo success

Wow, a negative DSU at HR Tokyo sounds very unusual. My recent experience at the same hotel:

In Aug 2015, booked 4 nights in April 2016 P+C, called to apply DSU. Cleared immediately into Atrium Suite (860 sf w/ two queen beds). Confirmation email shows:
Room(s) Booked: ATRIUM SUITE*
Rate Information: HYATT GOLD PASSPORT POINTS PLUS CASH AWARD COMBINED W/ TIER BENEFIT SUITE UPGRADE AWARD
Upon check-in, told we are in the Ambassador Suite instead (1200sf w/ two queen beds) for all four nights.

Needless to say, very happy with the outcome!

I have made reservations at the HR Hua Hin. When calling the Diamond line to apply my DSU I was told that the respective Suites are sold out. Truly, that suite could also not be booked when paying. The week after my anticipated stay, the Suite would have been available (and also bookable when paying).

I then contacted the hotel directly. They mentioned that the DSU Suite (a "Regency Suite King", 66 sqm) is not available, but they upgraded me and confirmed be in a "Regency Executive Suite" (85 sqm)!

I have updated the WIKI, added the "Regency Suite King" as confirmed DSU. But it's always worthwhile to contact the hotel directly, if inventory is not available. I had the same experience at the PH Zurich earlier this year, no inventory, but got confirmed.

I agree that it is always better to have this show up confirmed as a suite on line.

But is it always possible? My experience with Hyatt Gold Passport is that there is nothing seamless among (a) the multitude of often conflicting confirmation and change e-mails that they send; (b) what shows up on-line (sometimes my DSU suite upgrades show as suite upgrades, but sometimes they don't); (c) what the Diamond line CSRs at HGP see ("Yep, you're confirmed in for both nights using a DSU"); and (d) what the folks at the hotel see.

I just had an experience (HR Pier 66 Ft Lauderdale) that reminded me just how dicey these connections can be. Everything worked out, but I had to do a fair amount of calling and reconfirming and educating and ....

Updating the wiki might be a bit much... they normally only confirm one of the other suites when you pay an up-charge. Consider yourself lucky that you got it only using a DSU.
