Official Confirmed Diamond Suite Upgrade Experiences MASTER THREAD (WIKI)

Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

8. Diamond members will be issued four (4) suite upgrade awards, in their account, annually, defined as March 1st of the current year through the last day of February of the following year, Awards can be tracked through "My Promotional Awards" on goldpassport.com. A complimentary suite upgrade is valid on paid nights, for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights, at participating Hyatt hotels where suite accommodations are available. Suite upgrade awards must be redeemed at time of reservation. Member must call 800.400.2261 or their nearest worldwide reservation center to redeem upgrade award. Upgrade not available at Hyatt Place, Hyatt Summerfield Suites or Hyatt Vacation Club Resorts. Guest must pay an eligible rate. For purposes of this award, a suite provides for one-bedroom accommodations. Suite upgrade award is not valid toward Specialty, Premier, Presidential or Diplomatic Suites. Award is not transferable, negotiable or redeemable for cash or other substitutions. Credit will not be issued for unused upgrade awards. Guest is responsible for all charges exclusive of awards. There are limited numbers of suites available at each property.
Thanks for the info. Seems funny still as other diamond priviledges apperantly apply on Priceline rates?

Has anybody successfully upgrade a Priceline room?

Suite upgrade has always required paying an eligible rate whatever the instruments used, paper cert, points or awards.

Hyatt Regency Churchill/London

Hyatt Regency Churchill London
Regency Suite King -- room 723 (Corner room with Portman Square view)
53 sq. m -- 1 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath
Outstanding room in a tremendous hotel. I highly recommend using the suite upgrade at the Churchill. We also received club access. ^ Nice upgrade off LTO prepaid rate at about 180 GBP per night.

Now if they will only give me my favorite location of this one
We also changed from a points stay to paid to take advantage of the suite upgrade and the DEL5K. (Be sure to include that on your reservation for $150 free grinds!) When we stayed, the AAA rate was > $300/night--you have a really "sweet" deal! Are they letting you also have the suite for the points portion of your stay? They would not let me do that!

We already have the del5k on the reservation. We will have the suite for the points part because we reserved it using points We have become terribly addicted to that Ocean Suite - I think it will be our 4th or 5th stay in one ^^

1. Park Hyatt Beijing
2. Park Suite King
3. 85m²
4. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (double vanity, shower, huge bath, toilet), 1 guest toilet
5. A+ for room, B- for service
6. Room : Very nice suite, great view. A lot of modern touches, very loungy atmosphere. Service : Apart from the check in/out, had nothing but sloppy, uninterested or below PH level encounters with any kind of staff.

4. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (single vanity, shower, bath, toilet), no guest toilet
5. A++ for room, A+ for service
6. Room : Very nice large corner suite, great views, very cozy. Service : Near perfect, they've definitely gone a step upwards compared to last visit, approaching PHT level. Would new GM have anything to do with that ? ^

I tried to do that for a stay in NYC next April and was told I needed to wait until new suite certificates were credited to my account in March.

Additional info on upgrades at Grand Hyatt NYC: Diamond line said only Junior Suites are eligible to be upgraded to. Hotel reception confirmed to me that all of these are interior facing only. Lexington suites are smaller than Junior and are lower category than Juinor, it is basically a larger room. Conclusion, it is hard to justify using suite upgrade for this hotel.

I've seen that mentioned in an earlier post, but on the first page of this thread, there was a post from someone who'd gotten an upgrade to a VIP suite.

"Grand Hyatt New York
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Grand Hyatt New York (@ Grand Central Terminal)
2. VIP suite (http://www.grandnewyork.hyatt.com/hy...ocale=&start=8)
3. ~600sf
4. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom
5. Score = A
6. Great view of architectural details on the Chrysler Building across the street. Bedroom had a Sony Vaio desktop computer. Living room area entertainment system had surround sound. Large round dining table - seating for six."

Do you think they've changed their policy, or this poster just got lucky?

Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina

I had my 3-night stay at Mission Bay over Labor Day. Upon check-in I was told I had been upgraded to a Regency Club King. I asked if that room is considered a suite and was told "no, we don't have any suites, we are sold-out this weekend." Paraphrase of the conversation that followed:

Me: I requested a suite upgrade for this room
Front desk: Sorry, suite upgrades are based upon availability.
Me: Even electronic confirmed suite upgrades?
FD: Yes.
Me: Are you sure? The paper certs are based upon availability, but I confirmed this upgrade two months ago.
FD: Who did you confirm this with?
Me: The Diamond reservations. Does your system show that I requested the upgrade?
FD: Yes, its there, but we don't have any suites available. Let me check something.
She heads to another computer and looks something up and comes back a few minutes later.
FD: Sorry about that, would you like ocean or bay view?
Me: Ocean, thank you.

The room was as bbbb described in post #53; end room on the 17th (Regency) floor.
1. Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina
2. Not sure the name of but looks similar to the VIP suite. Curtain dividing the bed from living room. Room was #1720.
3. 500-600??? sqft
4. Studio with 1 BA
5. B-, the check-in hassle wasn't really worth it. I expected something better. The view was great though.
6. Since, its the end room you get to hear the ice machine which is also at the end of the hallway. The seals start barking about 5am and the kids start screaming at the pool at 8am. Even on the 17th floor it was a noisy room.

FWIW, I've received this same room without using a diamond suite upgrade certificate, however since they were sold out, and sounds like you had a tough time getting one even with a confirmed certificate, that would not have been possible when you stayed.
