Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

How should a confirmed suite upgrade appear in your reservation confirmation? I have a booking coming up at the Andaz London, and the "Room Booked" = Andaz Exec King, but in the additional information it says "DIAMOND SUITE UPGRADE CONFIRMED".

Does this mean they think an Andaz Exec King is a suite, or that I'm originally booked into an Exec King, and they will upgrade me to an actual Suite?

Mine shows a second room on the same reservation when I look at it in my reservations.

Well mine doesn't show a second room. When I had originally booked, the room was an andaz single, and now it shows andaz exec king. So is this acceptable as a suite for London andaz?

I think it MAY only show up with a second room if the hotel actually assigns you a 2nd separate room (ie, a parlour room that connects to a bedroom that can be locked off if the guest doesn't purchase the Suite). I think I've run into that before in the past. If it's just a large Suite that can only be booked as a single room, then I don't THINK that it will show up as 2 rooms, rather a room with some type of Suite description.

As far as an Andaz Exec King (38 sq. meters) being acceptable as a Suite at Andaz London, I personally would think not. After all if they meant for that room to be a Suite, then they would have named it a Suite. A regular Andaz King (granted it's larger than 3 other room types) is 29 sqm. An Andaz Suite King is 49 sqm. You should be getting put into the Andaz Suite King IMHO. You might call GP once (or twice if you get a bad agent the first time) to see what kind of room you are assigned to with your Suite upgrade. If they tell you the Exec King, then tell them that is not a Suite and escalate it up the chain until you get satisfaction would be my suggestion. ^

My 2DTRIAL2 finally kicked in so I have confirmed the following for later this year.

Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina
"Junior Suite" Which isn't listed on the hotel's website

Bali Hyatt
Regency Suite King (not bad for $110/night )

Park Hyatt Sydney
City Harbour Deluxe

I'll update after my stays to see what I really get.

This sounds like the room that they used to give diamond's before we got the confirmed upgrades. Its an end room with a sofa and a see through curtain around the bed. Stay at the Manchester Grand and get a real suite.

Is this corner room on a high floor and does it have windows in two directions, facing the ocean perhaps? If so, I'm happy. If no, I'm not. I would be very dissatisfied to get a massive suite facing an HVAC unit, as once happened at the PH Washington.

The room I had, or suite as the hotel called it faced the bay and I can't remember the windows.

I just looked and the room I had was the Corner suite.

Was this before or after the remodel? I have stayed at both the Manchester GH and Mission Bay and prefer the Mission Bay. I actually live in San Diego so I just use these as weekend getaways. The GH is usually the cheaper of the two, but service is lacking as peteropny noted.

My stay was after the remodel.

I have always had great service at the Manchester Grand with the exception of a Priceline stay where GP CS got the problem fixed. They have always gone out of their way to set me up with a suite using the old diamond paper upgrades.

Mod note: I hate to discourage "free" discussion but I would be great if we could try to limit posts in this thread to "Confirmed Diamond Suite Upgrades" otherwise this thread will quickly become less than helpful. Other discussions on particular properties should be in the appropriate threads.

Thanks,

Hyatt on the Bund, Shanghai

1. Name and location of hotel: Hyatt on the Bund, Shanghai
2. Suite type: Bund Suite River View King
3. # of Sq Ft: 80 sq m or approximately 861 sq ft
4. # of Bedrooms = 1, # of Bathrooms = 1
5. Were you happy with the upgrade? What grade would you give it? A+
6. Any other info: Follows below.

This suite (the room number will be *26) is on the rounded end of the East Wing. Walking from the living room through the bedroom to the bathroom gives you more than 270 degrees of view, including the Bund, the tall-building section of Pudong Xin Qu (Pudong New Area), and up and down the Huangpu River. Depending on the room (I have stayed in three of these rooms) you will have a spectacular view of Pudong Xin Qu and the river from at least one of the bathtub and shower (as well as the rest of the suite, of course).

The room includes access to the Bund Club, the equivalent of the Regency Club or Grand Club, including continental breakfast in the morning, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the evening, and non-alcoholic beverages and cookies during the day. It also includes the spectacular breakfast buffet in the restaurant Aroma on the second floor of the West Wing (you can cross between the wings on the lower level, the lobby level, or the second floor) or room-service breakfast. Service at the Bund Club is very, very good.

After thousands of hotel nights all over the world, I can't name a hotel stay I've enjoyed more (as the hotel stay, as distinguished from the visit to the surrounding location).

As to the hotel itself, "on the Bund" is a little bit inaccurate, but I guess "Hyatt Several Hundred Meters North of the Bund Across Suzhou Creek" was considered unwieldy by the marketing department. It's a walk of about 600 m to the north end of the Bund, and about another 700 m to Nanjing East Road and the nearest subway station, a bit excessive unless the weather is fine and the temperature is mild. But I've never waited more than a couple of minutes for a taxi at the hotel, taxis in Shanghai are very cheap, and I haven't yet learned enough Chinese to understand the drivers when they grumble at the short fare. (It can be difficult to get a taxi near Nanjing East Road, though.)
