Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Why? It is a defined benefit of being a Diamond. It is great that the hotel upgraded the OP when they didn't have to but I fail to see how that relieves them from providing the Diamond benefit that the OP was entitled to.

Long Beach

OK, I'm a little embarassed to admit I used a suite upgrade for this property and debated whether or not to even post. I won't be using all of my my suite upgrades and because I heard they had suites with 2+ beds here (my mother & sister were with me), I gave it a shot. Actually used paper suite cert.

1. HR Long Beach, CA
2. Called "Harbor View"; definitely would not be pictured on their web site.
3. Don't know sq footage--standard room was pie-shaped; suite side was square, about the size of a large regular room.
4. 1 bedroom with double beds had adjoining door to suite room which had a murphy bed (on the wall). 2 full bathrooms (one in each room). Rooms 536 & 538.
5. Grade = C. Bedroom room (536) looked refurbished & was okay. Suite room (538) furniture, decor and bathroom look like they haven't been updated since the 60's. Old Panasonic TV. Old sofa, 2 chairs, coffee table, desk. No electrical outlet in either room by desk to plug in laptop. Fifth = smoking floor. Only good feature was a nice view of the harbor.

At first they said they didn't have suites with 2 beds available. Come on I wasn't asking this of a resort-type property; my stay was 1 nt in between Christmas & New Years (place was a ghost town), and yes a 2-bedded suite was available for anyone they could dupe into paying $600. E-mail to the GM and they relented.

I appreciated the fact they did this because the 3 beds with 2 bathrooms for 3 people worked well for us. But I'm guessing this suite has to be one of the least nice in the Hyatt portfolio. Plus when I went to check out, they presented me with invoices for each room & charged the room rate for the suite side as well. Took 10 minutes to get that reversed.

Grand Hyatt San Antonio

We were pleasantly surprised to receive an email with an unsolicited upgrade to a Hospitality Suite for New Year's Eve.

1. Grand Hyatt San Antonio
2. Hospitality Suite
3. About 3X normal room size
4. Bedroom with King bed adjoining double bay living/dining/kitchen area with second full bath. Dining table for 6, large sleeper sofa. Kitchen area had fridge and countertops for serving, but no sink.
5. A-

The suite itself was lovely and well-appointed. I was just surprised to learn that none of the hotel's suites face the Tower of the Americas; they all face north. On New Year's Eve, that means no view of the fireworks without going outside the hotel.

1. Hyatt Regency Tokyo, Japan
2. Regency Suite
3. 71 sq Meters
4. Entrance way with wardrobe and a second door leading to one living/work area, a bedroom and a well designed bathroom with divided toilet, shower and sink/makeup areas.
5. Yes, A.
6. The room was comfortable and spacious. My only real nitpick was the slatted "door" between the bedroom and living room looks nice but doesn't block any noise or light if someone is trying to sleep while someone else is working or watching TV in the living room. I will post some more impressions and some photos in the main review thread.

1. Hyatt Regency Osaka, Japan
2. Regency Suite Twin
3. 90 sq Meters but felt larger than the 100sq meter suite at the Park Hyatt Tokyo.
4. Extremely large living and work area with a LCD TV that could probably have been bigger for the room size. One bedroom with well sized LCD TV for the room size. Long, narrow bathroom with toilet and basin and a separate bath (small TV, with local channels only), shower and another basin. A small dressing area between the wardrobe, bathroom and bedroom.
5. Yes, B.
6. Requested a king bed when booking and was told by the booking agent that I would get it based on the bed type guarantee (reading through the rules now, I understand it is not applicable when using the suite upgrade but that was contrary to what I was told and accepted in good faith when booking). Only twin suites were available on check-in so took the room and was happy with it apart from that detail. Will post more general impressions in the main review thread.

1. Park Hyatt Tokyo, Japan
2. Park Suite King
3. 100 sq Meters
4. Living and work area. Bedroom is around the corner from the living room and there is no door but it feels well separated. Good sized dressing area in the bath and basin space, separate toilet and shower areas.
5. Yes, A+.
6. Comfortable and classy, an excellent hotel to use the diamond upgrade at in terms of value and the increase in space from the base room. We had a brilliant view from the room of Mt Fuji on our last morning there. More thoughts on the hotel in the main review thread when I get around to it.

Mission Bay, San Diego

1. Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina - San Diego
2. First upgrade (waterfront suite): http://missionbay.hyatt.com/hyatt/ho...&tabType=photo
Second upgrade (Corner suite):http://missionbay.hyatt.com/hyatt/ho...&tabType=photo
3. Hotel website does not say how many square feet the rooms are.
4. The first upgrade, the waterfront suite, had one bedroom and one sitting room with a sleeper sofa, the second corner suite consisted with one bedroom and a seating area. There was only one bathroom in each case.
5. I was not happy because, having asked for a quiet room, I was allocated several very noisy rooms. I would give the room a B-. It was situated in their separate suites building. The rooms are small, poorly lit, the blinds are of the old metal type and they don't fit the windows properly, the bathrooms are older. The balcony is lined by bars which younger children can easily climb over, and seems like an accident waiting to happen. The suites are very noisy, especially if you are directly opposite the health club entrance, which is where our room was. There are strange sliding doors between the rooms, and for the bathroom. They can be quite tricky to pull in and out. The air conditioning was noisy.
The second upgrade, to the corner suite, was better. It's only one room, but it's bright and clean, the curtains are lined with blackout fabric and the bathrooms are updated. B+
6. My problems were mainly front desk staff not understanding what a quiet room is (or not caring). I had to move four times to get a quiet room (from directly opposite the health club to sharing a wall with an elevator, to directly opposite the elevator, and finally, to a quiet room on a high floor at the end of a corridor, just like I asked for in the first place...). Only for the last two nights of my seven night stay did I have a quiet room. For the middle three nights, I actually had to pay for a second room, since the confirmed suite upgrade was not available except for the very noisy waterfront room, and I needed a separate sleeping area for my two children. In addition, the breakfast experience was very poor (mediocre lukewarm food, pushy waiters angling for tips when using certificates that say tax and tip included, for the record, I did tip partly because I have young and messy children and partly because I felt pushed into it). There has also been inconsistency noted in how this hotel charges for parking. I was charged $20 a day for the two days I had a car and I was told this was the charge by the person who checked me in and gave me my Diamond breakfast certificates. Another Diamond member who checked in at the same time as me was told (by Camilla) parking was complimentary - see the reviews of the hotel thread for specifics. In general, the front desk people seem slow, and not very knowledgeable about the rooms and procedures.

Overall, I would say don't count on a decent upgrade at this hotel. Even if you get an ocean front suite, they are a bit tired/old with inadequate window coverings, liable to be noisy if you look at all the reviews on here, and if you get a "suite" in the main tower, it's really just one big room with a curtain separating it from a sitting area, and if you aren't at the end of the corridor, the elevator and associated corridor noise can also be a pain. If you get a bargain rate, well ok, but don't expect a premium property/rooms.

Is this the standard suite upgrade? I was upgraded to the Junior Suite (660 sq ft) not the VIP Suite.

Confirmed in a Park Suite, somewhere between 3rd and 9th floor. They will not book fancier suites on higher floors. After reserving with Hyatt CS, I called the hotel to specify I preferred Capitol view side. They told me they should be able to get me 9th floor.

Arrived at the hotel around 1:30 pm. Given a key to a 7th floor suite facing the Capitol. While spacious, I consider these standard suites to be sub-optimal for several reasons:

- Right across from the elevator bank, lots of foot traffic
- They are essentially hospitality suites featuring a bar and stools, sofa too
- There is not a single window in the large living/dining room
- There is one sliding door leading to a small balcony in the bedroom
- The bedroom is open to the living room

Accordingly, called the front desk and asked to be reassigned to a Park View corner room, x38 or x39 at the far end of the wing leading out to the park. Instead of having the hotel's driveway in the foreground, these rooms are on top of it, and directly across from Capitol Park. Also, they have 1-1/2 windows plus a sliding window opening to a balcony.

The front desk sent a bellman to provide new keys, and escort me to the new room. They then called to make sure I was happy. I said that I much preferred the new room.

Called Hyatt CS and they promptly returned my suite upgrade certificate to the bank.

During Thanksgiving weekend, we were assigned a VIP suite on the 26th until we arrived and reminded them we needed two beds. (It was in the reservation, and confirmed by a Diamond CSR.) Then we were immediately assigned a Conference suite on the 9th. Still wish we'd gone up to see the VIP before reminding them of the two beds, as I wonder if they were just looking for an excuse to open the VIP one. It was a busy night with a conference or gaming event that filled several ball/meeting rooms. The Conference suite was fine, afterall.

1. Name and location of hotel
Princeton, NJ
2. Suite type (and link of room from hyatt.com individual property page if possible)
Conference Suite - http://princeton.hyatt.com/hyatt/hot...ocale=&start=8
3. # of Sq Ft
Bedroom - 325 sq ft, living room 700 sq ft
4. # of Bedrooms (Studio/Jr/1/2) and # of Bathrooms (1/1.5/2)
1 bed, 2 bath
5. Were you happy with the upgrade? What grade would you give it (A/B/C/D/F) - C
6. Any other info (location/view/relative price vs normal rooms/etc) and pics if you want

Confirmed upgrade a couple weeks out.

First suite I was given was smoking, called front desk and asked for non-smoking. Non-smoking suite directly across from elevators (x21 was living room, x19 or x23 would be the bedrooms). Living room had the same tv that is in the normal rooms, along with some Bose sound system that I didn't play with. Large dining-room type table along with a fridge, but no micro. Living room did have a full bath.

Overall, nothing to get excited about.

I'm not sure what the furniture equivalent of airbrushing is, but the two rooms I saw are showing their age.
