Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Not I, at least in terms of using the Diamond suite upgrade (e)certs. And the HR Delhi do owe me some suite upgrades (for yet another mess-up) -- not that I'd take them given they charge me tax on the rack rate of whatever room I occupy even on award stays.

I am currently at the GH Seoul on a diamond Suite upgrade...

Room : Grand Suite King
Size: 48 sqM - 1 large room with a revolving TV/minibar unit. Seprate bathroom and small closet.

Best thing about the suite is the bathroom. Because the bathrooms in the reg rooms at GH Seoul are so small!! Nice to have the separate shower/bathtub.

One additional note - I hadn't seen if anyone else had done this before. I am staying here 14 nights - and they did allow me to upgrade the entire stay with 2 upgrades. I wasn't sure if they allowed back-to-back suite upgrades.

Grand Hyatt Washington, D.C.

Well, I may just put one of these upgrades to use after all!

I have a two-night stay coming up in D.C. this weekend (Sat 10/10-Mon 10/12). I called to request a suite upgrade a couple days ago and was told there was no availability. It was recommended that I check back. I didn't have very high expectations, but when I called tonight there was good news: they had availability!

The GPC put me on hold and went to work. She popped back on the line and asked if I still needed two beds, and I answered yes. I told her a sofa bed was fine for the second bed if that's all they had. She put me on hold again. I was waiting for quite a while (8-10 mins), but when she came back on the line it was all worked out for a confirmed suite with two double-beds. And she apologized for the wait.

It looks like it's a two-bedroom attached to another room or parlor/living room. My reservation now lists two rooms; the rate for the second room is $0 and the description is "Suite Connector".

I will report back after my stay on the experience.

It seems all the suite upgrade reservations are showing the suite as a suite connector.

I know I'm booked into a regular 1 bedroom suite, yet the reservation still shows a room with a suite connector. It's set this way on 2 different reservations.

I was told this is how they have to do it in the system.

Grand Hyatt San Antonio

No need to use a confirmed suite upgrade at the GH San Antonio. Each time I've booked a reservation there (3X in 2 months) they have automatically sent me a revised confirmation showing an upgrade to a Grand Suite, soon after the reservation is booked. It consists of 2 connecting rooms, one a standard bedroom and one with a large sleeper sofa, coffee table, desk and big screen TV and 2nd bathroom. Just for asking, my husband got a further upgrade to a Hospitality Suite, about 3X the size of a normal room with kitchen and dining table for 8. Nice!

Grand Hyatt Berlin

Room: Grand Executive Suite ("Greta Garbo Suite")

Size: 96 sqm

Great, spacious suite with a spacious bathroom (shower cabin can be turned into steam sauna), separate guest bathroom, large dining/living area and separate working desk. 2nd floor, no particular view. Includes (!) a wet bar with large decanters (gin, whisky, vodka, campari), a hot bar with Nespresso machine and a well-stocked minibar. A royal experience, also servicewise.

Grand Hyatt San Francisco - No Upgrade!

When I arrived at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco for a 3 night stay with my wife they said they did not have any available suites as they were all sold out. This is despite me calling the Diamond Line a couple weeks before my trip and them confirming that I had a confirmed upgrade. I don't know what the true story is about what happened.

The front desk said the reservation was not made correctly as the upgrade was only listed in the notes, not in the reservation. I took the Club Level room they had reserved for me. I called the Diamond Line and they said the reservation had been made correctly, but that the hotel had apparently failed to block a room for me.

The Diamond Line representative spent over 10 minutes on the phone with the hotel trying to see if they could fulfill their promise somehow. They he said that the hotel was still working on it and the hotel would call me when they figured out if they could do something. About 15 minutes later they called and apologized but all their suites were full. They said they would credit my account with 6,000 points (value of a suite upgrade).

The Diamond Line rep said the GHSF was using Hyatt's new room allocation system and the Diamond Line agents can't see whether the hotel has blocked a room or not. I asked about confirmed suite upgrades I have in Maui and Kauai for February and he said he could see that they had already blocked a suite for me.

I've never understood why the reservation confirmations I see online make no mention of the suite upgrade

Can anyone shed any light on whether any of this seems true and how I can tell if I will really have a suite waiting for me when I arrive in Maui and Kauai in February?

Thanks
Greg

This is totally unacceptable. I don't care if they can't "see" the blocked room or not, that is no excuse. They can call the hotel and speak to them directly to confirm, isn't that their job??

I am a newbie to this forum and also to Hyatt Diamond but I have also used my Suite Upgrade for Maui next February for ten nights
They had to send a request to the hotel directly.
But I got it!!!
Unfortunately, I didn't get an upgrade in Waikiki.

And it shows up on my reservation.

I find Hyatt GP and the Diamond line to be often conflicting on this. The Australian call centre say upgrades are confirmed at check in and they put notes in the comments despite the T&Cs of the upgrade. Due to this I call the US Diamond line.

In your situation I would have asked for the duty or rooms manager and raise the issue of upgrades should be confirmed, and your Diamond room availability guarantee. I would politely suggest a higher category suite given your inconvenience and disappointment. If all suites were occupied I would accept this but demand to be moved to the next available suite during your stay. As always, be polite, reasonable but firm.

In future call the Diamond line to perform the upgrade and then the property directly to confirm. As a result of your experience I'm going to call all the properties on my upcoming trip. Unfortunately since moving my business from Starwood I have found a lack of uniformity among GP customer service, whereas SPG are completely black and white. There is an advantage to this whereby some operators will action an upgrade by putting in the effort and calling the property, when another operator only a few minutes earlier denied the suite upgrade.

+1 Of course it's always easier in hindsight to be an armchair quarterback than when you are there in front of them, but this is what I would have done as well. I hope they at least redeposited the Suite upgrade cert AND gave the above poster the 6k GP pts as compensation.

I too have found this to be the case when calling and requesting confirmed suite upgrades recently.

I'm in my confirmed suite at the Grand Cypress. Actually, it's 2 rooms with an adjoining door. One side is the bedroom, which is complete room by itself and can be rented alone, and the adjoining room is the living room. It's on a corner, so we have 3 terraces, and one is actually a normal size

While customer svc did not tell me the room number, they did tell me the floor, and that's exactly where the room is.

1. Grand Hyatt Melbourne, Australia
2. Grand Suite King on level 26
3. 80 sq Meters/861 sq Feet
4. One Bedroom, one living/work area and two bathrooms (First is a full bathroom with shower/spa bath and the second just a toilet and basin)
5. Yes, A. A little bit of wear evident on some of the cabinets but overall a very comfortable space. Due to be refurbished this year, starting this month.
6. Very happy with the room - great view of Melbourne and there were fireworks in Federation Square on the Saturday which I don't think we could have had a better view of. I'll post some more thoughts in the thread for this property.
