I'm in the same boat. It's impossible for me to pick Hyatt Place without a G2 type bonus to sleep for five hours on a Sunday night when I can Priceline something down the road for less than half the price ($99+tax vs. a winning $34 bid, or $44 all-in), or pay $259 for an inconveniently located weeknight Hyatt Regency when a better located full-service Marriott has Priceline rooms for $80.

I like my top-level status, but at these rates I can't afford both Hyatt and Hilton status without a significant trip-generating promo. Instead, I'm starting to burn my stash of 110k Hyatt points, with a 2-night stay during the Brooklyn Reality Tour for starters.

Ummm, isn't there a stays count double promo going on right now with Hyatt until June 15? Someone had mentioned this in another thread so I emailed Hyatt CS and asked to be registered. A day or two later I was signed up and a day or two after that I received retroactive double stay credit back to March. Give it a shot.

I think that double stay promo was targetted to Diamonds (and Platinums?) who lost their status 2/09. There were reports of people being successful in getting registered for it upon request.

I just sent an e-mail to Hyatt requesting the promo just in case -- I will report my reply. I am already a Diamond.

My Private Line Agent said she has received a number of queries from FTers about this promo. It is targeted toward those who were diamonds but dropped to plat. It is meant to help them regain their diamond status.

So has Flyertalk rule No. 1 been invoked? (If you get a "no," call back until you get a "yes"). I am a diamond and would have loved to be in on this promo but now it's over in 27 days. Wish they would have a stays count double promo officially.

Mine said the same thing - perhaps we both have someone who knows too much about Hyatt - whereas the lucky people have perhaps encountered less well trained agents.
