And it was some sort of hot breakfast croissant sandwiches Thursday. They looked pretty good, but I didn’t partake.
Also odd that there is no breakfast offering Friday mornings.

I need to vent here…Naming and shaming the HR Reston. I want to like this property Bc it’s fairly nice and good for my work trips as compared to the category zero HR Dulles, but I’ve spent maybe 60 nights here in the last 12 months and have never glimpsed the Town Center Suite. (standard suite) I’m no globalist dykwia suite diva but this is getting annoying.
I was proactively “upgraded” to a “nice quiet room where we put our valued guests” on the club level. Having fallen for this spiel last month,( note: it was a regular room in the middle of the hall halfway between the elevator and the club) I asked for the town center suite which still showed available in the app.
The FD agent seemed kinda taken aback and said “you want to book a suite?” I said, “no, not pay… just leverage the globalist best available room?”
He proceeded to tell me that my club level standard room had a town center view and was better Bc it was close to the club lounge on the 15th floor. (Which is closed for everything but breakfast )
mmmkay. That’s nice. But not what I was asking.
I remarked that I didn’t care if the standard suite was on the 15th, 14th or whichever floor…
I gave the other FDA standing beside him a puzzled look and she came over and told me that all their suites were
fully booked. When I showed her the app that had (and still has 7 hrs later) standard suites for sale, she told me that there is a lag in the app/website and the actual
inventory.
I was skeptical of this, but had no way to disprove it. Other than, now, 7 hours later, I can make a dummy booking for 2 rooms for the same nights with the standard suites still showing as bookable. Seems suspect to me!
We were at an impasse so i asked for a corner king room, which was begrudgingly granted.
it just seems to me that this property is one of the ones playing bonvoy level shenanigans. Which is sad Bc the glob treatment is the thing that pulled me away from Marriott in the first place.
I’m not one to cause a ruckus, but I don’t like being (most likely) lied to. I’m not asking for presidential suite here. Just what globalists are entitled to.
I’m a 2021 glob lite w/o a concierge, which, funnily enough, I’ll hit 60 nights when I check out of here. But that doesn’t help me now.
What would you peeps do? Think the regular glob line should be told? Ask for the GM (who is probably the one that put the shenanigans policy in place)? Just suck it up? It’s the principle of the thing that annoys me the most.
PS HR Tyson’s Corner hands out very nice suites 75% of my trips there without me even having to ask.

For me - HR Reston has been notorious for this. No matter how often I stay there, every time I check in and there are suites available in the app I get the same excuses - lag in the system, none are available, not available for your whole stay due to various rooms being blocked, so no one room is available the entire, etc, etc, etc. I've had contact with management and it goes nowhere. When it happened on my last stay I emailed that person and they never even bothered to respond.
HR Dulles sucks in comparison and I love all the food options by the HR Reston, I just wish they treated Globs better. It was the best when the lounge was closed because breakfast was in the restaurant and actually decent as compared to the horrible lounge breakfast. If it is in budget, I unfortunately will continue staying at Reston because of the food options, and I'll just pay for breakfast (an deal with never getting an upgrade)

I live in the general area and just completed a one-night stay; at a hair over $100 I thought it was a good value considering my family had breakfast, used the pool, and for a general change of pace.
Although the hotel was cheap when we booked it it was sold out by the time we arrived. We were placed in a club floor double room although the lounge itself was closed. The room was pleasant with views to the mountains in the distance and I heard absolutely no noise. Nothing too fancy but it was clean and comfortable.
4PM checkout was proactively offered at checkin and we were each given a $25 voucher for Capital Burger breakfast, which was more than enough.
Breakfast is from 630-11AM; the buffet was relatively small (just scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, pancakes/French toast, and home fries; then plain bread, yogurt parfaits, and fruit) so we ordered breakfast sandwiches which were solid.
The pool is small (and maxes out at 3.5 feet deep) but I found I pleasant as it’s heated and the room is very sunny with a huge skylight. There’s also a large hot tub.
Half of the elevators are out of service for repairs so the service elevators are open for guest use.. this was actually very convenient for us with the location of our room.
Reston Town Center has lots of dining options although we went to Aslin Brewing in Herndon.
It’s around a 1.4 mile walk on the W&OD trail to the Wiehle metro station; will be much more convenient once the Reston station opens.
Pictures below and I’d be glad to answer any questions.

Another stay and more "quirks"
Since this hotel REFUSES to upgrade Globalists regardless of rooms showing as available, I burned a TSU for a 4 night stay. My targeted promotion for the quarter is a TSU for every 5 nights and this stay was gonna get me to my first 5 nights, so I figured why not. Essentially traded a 2/2024 expiring TSU for a 2/2025 which has already posted
First morning my key did not work on the Exec Lounge nor on parking.... That evening I stopped by the front desk to have the keys recoded. The next morning it still didn't work on the lounge, but did work for parking. So another stop at the front desk and got recoded again. They blamed it on being in a suite because the primary room on the reservation was the connector, not the bedroom. So they added the bedroom to the key as well (now opened both rooms) and finally I had keys that got me into my room, the lounge, and the parking lot. They said they were working on a solution and this was a known issue.
At check in they told me that the lounge opened at 7am which seemed ridiculous for a business hotel. I'm usually at work before then... Even for getting in by 8am it's late. However, I knew from my last visit and talking to Rita in the lounge that they actually open at 6am. I told the desk and they didn't believe me, so they gave me coupons to have breakfast at Capital Burger which opens earlier (didn't end up using these). After I got up to my room I got a call informing me that they confirmed the lounge opens at 6am just like I told them. By the middle of the week a sign had been taped up on the lounge with the new hours. Lack of communication between departments.
Finally, upon checkout my internet charges were not removed automatically (Globalist). I called and got a hold of someone who said they would fix it and email me. By the next day, no email, so I texted and they apologized, removed it and sent me a new bill. Unfortunately this make my expense report harder... They confirmed:

It is an automated process, and adjust it off on it's own. Unfortunately, there was a system glitch.

Staying once again (3 nights). On the plus side - the elevator renovations are finally complete, so all 4 passenger elevators are available again
This time I decided to badger them over text on day of arrival about not getting a suite upgrade, despite the app showing all 3 suite types being available for my stay (and me sending a screenshot of the same). Figured text would allow them more time to try to squirm out of it without me standing at the front desk wasting my time.
Anyone see the flaw in this logic - suites are available, but not for your entire stay, but we were able to upgrade you. So which is it, suites aren't available or they are and thus we can upgrade you. It can't be both. This follow up by me received no response
In fact, I received the EXACT same room as I did the last time I was here when I burned a TSU. Got up to the room and the connecting doors were locked and required someone to come up with the key to unlock them. But at least my keys worked on both doors, the lounge, and parking the first time this time.
If this hotel doesn't want to play by the rules, they should either deflag (I personally don't want this as I like staying in this area) or get themselves onto the suite ineligible properties list.

Can you tell me why, once again, a repeat Globalist guest has not been upgraded even though all suites are showing as available
Thank you for your patience. I would like to sincerely apologize about that. Yes suites are available, however, not for the entire stay. However, we were able to upgrade you to one of our town center suite.
While I thank you for the upgrade, that's the same excuse I get every time. The screenshot I sent is for a stay from the 20th to the 23rd, my stay duration. So you're willing to sell all suites types for that duration, so how can they not be available. The follow up excuse is usually that various rooms are blocked and therefore a given room isn't available for the whole stay. And the town center is your standard suite (I've booked into one with a. Suite upgrade recently), so that's what the upgrade would logically be

I am staying at the Reston next weekend and decided to burn a TSU as well. I am curious how you liked the Suite once you got in there and keys coded properly. Did you like the Suite, and do you know if the couch folded out to a bed like other Hyatts? I've got a friend that may stay as well, and, I want to have space for them too.

I had a 3 night stay here this week, first time at this property, and I was very happy! I dropped to Explorist this year, but just got my club upgrade certs so I used one. There was some confusion when I spoke with the WoH agent but eventually I got it confirmed and property confirmed as well. I was upgraded to a corner room on the 6th floor ahead of arrival. Arrived very late (130a) but was checked in within 2 minutes. Room is furnished as above, and this corner room deluxe probably has a little more space than standard. AC worked VERY well, WiFi was a little less than I'd expect so I mostly tethered. Club spread was fine for US, better than many Marriott's I've stayed at over the years. I had drinks a few times as Capitol Burger which were nicely made cocktails. I obviously didn't have the Globalist suite issue, but to be honest, I was in my room so little on this trip it wouldn't have mattered. I'd happily (and will in a few weeks) return.

Is club lounge open on weekends ?
Has anyone stayed recently? During covid the lounge was closed and we were able to order from the restaurant which was very good. Last year the lounge had opened but had pretty pitiful offerings. Has anyone stayed recently? What is the current globalist benefit?
